Job description

MAINTENANCE MECHANIC – PLUMBING 67013192

Salary Range: $34,760.00 - $38,236.00 annually ($1,336.92 - $1,470.62 biweekly). Hiring salary may exceed the maximum posted salary.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Installing and repairing all types of plumbing fixtures including heaters, flush valves, gate valves, globe valves, hot water circulation pumps, mixing valves, relief valves, supply lines, and P‑traps.
  • Operate hand and power tools associated with the plumbing trade and gather materials such as skill saw, table saw, band saw, and other plumbing tools.
  • Install new lines and repair broken lines (sewer lines, unstopping sewer lines, lavatories, kitchen sinks, washing machine drains, floor drains, dish machine drains, food disposals).
  • Work with vendors to obtain quotes for materials needed to complete tasks and projects.
  • At the end of the day, ensure no hazardous condition exists, clean up all trash and debris, avoid slippery surfaces or open holes, and eliminate exposed pipes, sharp edges, or hot plumbing surfaces.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
  • Corrective lenses restricted license acceptable if driver wears corrective lenses while operating a state vehicle.
  • Willingness to perform essential services before, during, and after an emergency.
  • Willingness to work beyond the normal work schedule to maintain coverage levels and meet agency needs.
  • Ability to climb a ladder, work from flights of stairs, work near loud noises and electrical equipment, work in tight spaces and/or on rooftops.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, exert up to 30 pounds of force frequently.
  • Ability to walk, stand, bend, climb for prolonged periods of time.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, materials, methods, safety procedures for maintenance and repair work.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, read blueprints, perform skilled trade functions, pay attention to detail, follow instructions, take accurate measurements, communicate effectively.
  • Use of tools and equipment in maintenance and repair work, hand tools, adherence to applicable code.
