Job summary

Rust‑Oleum Corporation is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic in Wisconsin to maintain and operate filling and packaging equipment. Daily duties include repairing parts, performing preventive maintenance, and inspecting drives, motors, and belts to ensure efficient operation.

The role requires 1–3 years of industrial experience, familiarity with SOPs, the ability to lift 75 pounds, and willingness to work overtime. Shift details include 12.5-hour nights on a 3-6-3-2 cycle with a $1.25 shift premium.

Responsibilities

• Repair or replace defective equipment parts using hand/power tools and reassemble equipment.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance on machines and building systems to ensure smooth operation.
• Inspect drives, motors, belts, fluid levels, and replace filters as needed.
• Use tools from basic to precision measuring and electrical testing devices.
• Dismantle devices to access and remove defective parts with hoists/cranes.
• Assemble, install, or repair wiring, piping, machinery, and equipment.
• Record type and cost of maintenance or repair work.
• Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
• Diagnose mechanical problems and determine corrective actions.
• Inspect and test machinery to diagnose malfunctions.

As our Maintenance Mechanic you are responsible for both the maintenance and operation of filling and packaging equipment. Here's what you can expect every day:

• Repair or replace defective equipment parts, using hand tools and power tools, and reassemble equipment
• Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, or the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate.
• Inspecting drives, motors, and belts, checking fluid levels, replacing filters, or performing other maintenance actions, following checklists.
• Using tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches, to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices.
• Assemble, install, or repair: wiring, piping, machinery, and equipment.
• Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
• Diagnose mechanical problems and determining how to correct them, utilizing repair manuals and parts catalogs as necessary.
• Inspect, operate, and test machinery and equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions.
• Record type and cost of maintenance or repair work.
• Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
• Dismantle devices to access and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools.

Required Experience:

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• 1-3 years of industrial experience.
• Experience with filling and packaging equipment.
• Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
• Ability to read and follow standard operating procedures.
• Ability to do basic math and enter computer data.
• Ability to lift 75 pounds.

Additional Consideration Given to Those With:

• Exposure to quality programs.
• Paint/Coatings/chemical industry knowledge or experience.
• Experience with a continuous process discipline such as Six Sigma/Lean/TQM manufacturing environment.
• Previous experience with safety programs.

Flex Schedule:

6:00 PM to 6:15 AM shift following a 3-6-3-2 rotation-3 days on, 6 days off, 3 days on, and 2 days off. (Week 1: Mon, Tue. Wed. - Week 2: Wed, Thrs, Fri) - Each 12.5 hour shift includes 30 minute unpaid lunch and 3 paid breaks (15 minutes) Shift Premium = $1.25
