Job summary

Innophos is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic - Millwright to complete work orders at the Geismar Plant. The role involves dismantling, repairing, installing machinery, and ensuring safe, efficient operation of equipment.

Responsibilities include coordinating with unit operations, following lockout-tagout procedures, ordering parts, and performing preventive maintenance. A high school diploma or GED and 5 years of millwright experience are required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 5 years of millwright experience in an industrial environment preferred.
  • Dismantling, removing, and re-installing plant equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate with unit operations to prepare work site and avoid interference.
  • Dismantle, repair, and install machinery using hand and power tools.
  • Transport components to/from the shop and assemble with new parts.
  • Align machines and check for leaks to ensure efficient operation.
  • Follow lockout-tagout procedures and PPE requirements.
  • Perform required HSE and plant-specific trainings.

Job description

Innophos is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic - Millwright to complete work orders including removing, repairing, and installing machinery and equipment in the field at the Geismar Plant.

Key Responsibilities
  • Communicate with unit operations to ensure the work site has been prepared and to avoid interfering with activities of other workers. Follows lockout-tag out procedures, checking for documentation of entry permit and check to make sure lines are closed and locked.
  • Dismantle failed equipment (motors, pumps) using hand and power tools such as hammers, wrenches, crowbars, etc. Transports it to the shop using hoist, lift trucks, dollies, and rollers.
  • Assess the failed equipment, order replacement parts, and assembles the equipment with the new parts.
  • Re-install machinery after prepping the supporting surface. Bolts, welds, rivets, or otherwise fasten machinery to the foundation.
  • Align machines and equipment, using micrometers and plumb bobs. Perform checks for leaks and ensures equipment is operating efficiently.
  • Must perform under stress when confronted with emergency, critical, unusual, or dangerous situations
  • Utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) per job task specification or specified plant location
  • Perform other duties based on changes in operational, safety or environmental factors
  • Demonstrate management’s commitment to safety
  • Utilize PPE according to specific plant location or per job task specification.
  • Complete all HSE regulatory training and any company mandated training related to HSE, maintenance, production, food safety, and security
Shift
  • 4-10’s (5:30 am – 4:00 pm) with rotating on-call schedule
  • Bi-weekly paid on Friday’s

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Education level:High school diploma or general education degree (GED); certification from technical school or 5 years of millwright experience in an industrial environment
  • Similar or related experience desired: 5 years of millwright experience in an industrial environment
  • Essential skills/knowledge: Working knowledge of dismantling, removing, and re-installing equipment in the plant; computer literacy, forklift operations
  • Experience operating up to a 25 ton crane
  • Ability to follow Good Manufacturing Practices including the proper wearing of clean protective clothing, following personal hygiene standards, and adherence to food/drink/tobacco restrictions
Environmental and/or Physical Requirements
  • Work is performed in the plant as well as the maintenance shop. There are frequent physical demands associated with this position, including regular lifting (some heavy), stair climbing, working in the heat, handling tools, etc.
