Job summary

Kiewit is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic for a project in Rayville, LA. The role requires 3+ years of Heavy Equipment experience, including hydraulic, electrical, and powertrain systems.

You will service Caterpillar, Liebherr, Xtreme, and Takeuchi machines and use CAT ET, Cummins INSITE, and Diesel Laptop diagnostics. Typical schedule is 6:00am–6:00am, Monday–Saturday, with overtime and weekends as needed; must pass drug/alcohol and non-DOT medical tests.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with field experience.
• Strong working knowledge of electrical, hand tools, power tools and layout tools.
• Ability to read, transmit written and oral instructions and communicate with supervision.
• Must follow safety and project rules; pass required drug/alcohol tests.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, diagnose and repair heavy construction equipment (hydraulic, electrical, powertrain).
• Operate ladders, platforms and lifts to access equipment and work areas.
• Follow safety protocols and project rules; work overtime, weekends, nights as required.

Kiewit is looking for a Maintenance Mechanic for their project located in Rayville, LA.

Experience Level

• 3+ years of experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic.
• Must be able to maintain, diagnose, and repair all types of heavy construction equipment including hydraulic, electric, and power train systems.
• Experience working with the following equipment: Caterpillar, Liebherr, Xtreme, Takeuchi.
• Experience working with the following diagnostic systems: CAT ET, Cummins INSITE, Diesel Laptop.
• Up to $37.00 per hour, depending on experience
• Current schedule is 6:00am – 6:00am, Monday – Saturday.
• Must be willing to work additional overtime, weekends and nights when required.
• All offers are contingent on your ability to pass a Drug and Alcohol and non DOT physical test

Qualifications

• May require a high school diploma or its equivalent with previous years of experience in the field or in a related area.
• Must possess strong working knowledge skills and abilities for position.
• Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with management/supervision.
• Proficient in the safe and efficient use of electrical, hand tools, power tools and layout tools as well as measurement tools
• The person in this position needs to constantly move about a construction/industrial site, so should be able to stand, walk, sit, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl
• Constantly works in a construction environment and will be exposed to changing outdoor weather conditions
• Work irregular hours, weekends, overtime and holidays as required
• May be required to use ladders/mechanical platforms/manlifts/scaffold to access required equipment/work areas (may exceed 200 feet), so must be able to climb and maintain balance on formwork, steel formwork, stairs,ladders and scaffolds
• Move and work in and around confined and cluttered places, and uneven surfaces
• Must be able to complete tasks in a noisy and dusty environment
• May be required/able to move items weighing up to 50 pounds across construction/industrial site
• Must have required tools
• Observe and comply with all safety and project rules, perform other duties as required
• Ability to pass pre-access drug and alcohol testing and fit for duty medical and non DOT physical test
