Job summary

Riverhead Central School District is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic II for the Buildings & Grounds team to perform preventive maintenance and repairs across district facilities in alignment with the CSEA contract.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, a NYS driver's license and fingerprint clearance; candidates must meet one of: two years of relevant maintenance experience, completion of vocational education, or one year as Maintenance Mechanic I. Salary: $28.51 per hour.

SALARY: $28.51 Per Hour/ As Per CSEA Contract

DEPARTMENT: Buildings & Grounds

START DATE: 2026- 2027School Year

REQUIREMENTS

• High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• Valid New York State Driver’s License
• New York State Education Department Fingerprint Clearance

CANDIDATE MUST HAVE EITHER

• Completion of two (2) years of vocational education courses in a vocational school program or in an apprentice or training program in one of the craft areas; or
• Two (2) years of experience in minor maintenance or repair work; or
• One (1) year of experience as a Maintenance Mechanic I
• Good knowledge of the standard electrical tools, materials, methods and practices
• Ability to read blueprints, sketches, assembly diagrams or operating instructions
