Job summary

Shasta Beverages, Inc. is seeking a skilled maintenance technician to repair and maintain production and facility equipment, install new machinery, and uphold preventive maintenance programs.

The ideal candidate is a full journeyman in machine repair or plant mechanic, proficient in reading mechanical/electrical prints, pneumatic and hydraulic schematics, and pipe-fitting for air, water, and hydraulics. Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED; technical college preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of related field experience; beverage industry a plus.
  • Ability to read mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics.
  • Proficient in pipe fitting for air, water, hydraulics and basic electrical work.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; MP2 software and PLC experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform changeovers, respond to line calls, and troubleshoot equipment.
  • Apply basic electrical skills to maintain systems.
  • Repair and maintain high-speed production equipment.
  • Follow lockout/tagout procedures and OSHA training.
  • Respond to operator requests for repairs promptly.
  • Perform package changeovers and schedule preventative maintenance.
  • Lead daily meetings and report department objectives.
  • Install or rebuild equipment; troubleshoot pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Develop preventative maintenance requirements and schedules.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems independently.
  • Lead and initiate resolution of complex technical issues.
  • Interact professionally with staff and promote teamwork.
  • Coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Understand electrical controls basics.
  • Work 12-hour shifts including days/evenings/weekends.

Job description

JOB OVERVIEW

This position consists of repairing and maintaining all production and facility equipment, new equipment installations, and maintaining established preventative maintenance programs. The qualified candidate will be a full journeyman in Machine Repair, Plant Mechanic, or Millright, must be proficient in reading mechanical/electrical prints, pneumatic schematics, and hydraulic schematics, proficient in pipe fitting skills of air, water, hydraulics, and must have good attendance record.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. 1. Perform changeovers, answer line calls, and troubleshoot.
  2. 2. Apply basic electrical skills.
  3. 3. Repair and maintain high speed production equipment.
  4. 4. Practice safe work habits. Follows proper lock out tag out procedures as required. Completes all OSHA required training as required and correct any unsafe conditions as necessary.
  5. 5. Responds to calls from line supervisors or operators to repair equipment as needed.
  6. 6. Performs package change-overs on equipment as required.
  7. 7. Schedule preventative maintenance on equipment as required.
  8. 8. Participates in daily meetings and reports maintenance department objectives and opportunities.
  9. 9. Installing/rebuilding equipment.
  10. 10. Troubleshoot and repair pneumatic devices and hydraulic systems.
  11. 11. Develop preventative maintenance needs and requirements.
  12. 12. Troubleshoot mechanical or electrical problems in a timely manner.
  13. 13. Independently performs all assignments after being given general instructions as to the results expected.
  14. 14. Takes the lead and initiates resolution of technical, unusual or complex problems or issues.
  15. 15. Ability to interact with the public and other employees in a positive manner and promote a cooperative working environment.
  16. 16. Utilize basic electrical skills.
  17. 17. Coordinates several projects at the same time while prioritizing competing demands on time frames.
  18. 18. Ability to synthesize complex or diverse information.
  19. 19. Typically negotiates in a competitive or adversarial environment.
  20. 20. General understanding of electric and electrical controls.
  21. 21. Ability to work 12 hour shifts and the flexibility to work days, evenings and/or weekends.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Field positions will be exposed to various unfamiliar conditions where Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn and which may include, but are not limited to: manufacturing and warehouse plants, and other venues as directed by supervisor. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but increases significantly in warehouse and manufacturing plants.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School Diploma or GED. Technical college preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in related field with proven industry experience, beverage experience a plus.
  • Ability to read schematics.
  • Computer literacy required with proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Excel and Word. Knowledge of MP2 software and PLC experience plus.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Knowledgeable on OSHA laws and can implement all OSHA required training for the department.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills in English. Bilingual in Spanish strongly preferred.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Favorable background and drug exam.
  • Ability and willingness to work 12 hour shifts and the flexibility to work a flexible Full Time schedule that may include weekends and holidays.
