Description
- Ensure compliance with established safety procedures for maintenance and operation of processing equipment, rolling stock, power tools, and facility systems.
- Apply and verify Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Confined Space, Machine Guarding, and Hazardous Materials procedures when servicing plant equipment.
- Diagnose and repair production equipment, conveyors, balers, compactors, and facility systems.
- Ensure conveyors, balers, compactors, and processing systems are properly locked out and verified safe prior to servicing or repair.
- Diagnose and repair hydraulic systems, ensuring stored energy is relieved and components are secured prior to disassembly.
- Follow electrical safety procedures and ensure systems are de-energized and verified prior to servicing unless specifically trained and authorized for energized work.
- Perform stick and wire welding and fabrication repairs in accordance with company hot work procedures and required fire prevention measures.
- Monitor and ensure adherence to the preventative maintenance schedule for plant equipment and document completed maintenance activities.
- Operate plant equipment (balers, forklifts, skid steers, aerial platforms, loaders) only after completion of required training and certification.
- Handle and dispose of lubricants, cleaning agents, hydraulic fluids, and other hazardous materials in accordance with Hazard Communication standards and Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
- Use hand and power tools in accordance with training and safety guidelines, maintaining required guards and protective equipment.
- Promptly report injuries, equipment damage, environmental incidents, unsafe conditions, and near-miss events to supervision.
- Wear required PPE including safety glasses, gloves, steel-toe footwear, hearing protection, high-visibility apparel, and task-specific PPE such as face shields or respiratory protection when required.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area to reduce hazards and improve efficiency.
- Willingly and effectively cooperates with OTC, The Department of Human Services, The Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD), and other licensing or state agencies or local municipalities in any inspections and investigations, upon request.

Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years of experience repairing machinery, including hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems
- Ability to diagnose and repair plant equipment and facility systems
- Ability to read and interpret schematics and technical manuals
- Demonstrated ability in record keeping and documentation
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Valid driver’s license
- Acceptable safety record
- Additional experience may be substituted for formal education
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, and climbing stairs or ladders
- Working at heights and in confined or restricted spaces
- Repetitive gripping, torque application, and use of hand and power tools
- Lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling materials up to 50 pounds, occasionally more with assistance
- Working around moving industrial machinery and high-pressure hydraulic systems
- Exposure to noise, dust, vibration, heat, cold, and industrial plant environments
- Ability to wear required PPE for extended periods
- Ability to respond to emergency repair situations under time constraints
