Job summary

Memorial Hermann Health System in Texas is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform all phases of building and equipment maintenance for the hospital. This is a Night Shift role focused on keeping the physical plant safe, efficient and compliant with policies.

The ideal candidate has a High School diploma or GED and at least 1 year of related experience or a trade-school certificate in mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, or electrical trades. Valid licensure not required.

  • At least 1 year experience or certificate in mechanical/building trades.

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine servicing/repair operations to maintain hospital buildings, equipment, furnishings, fixtures and grounds.
  • Repairs electrical, mechanical and plumbing systems; conducts preventive maintenance and maintains related records.
  • Maintains HV/AC controls and associated equipment to maximize efficiency in controlled areas.
  • Ensures safety for patients, staff and visitors; adheres to Memorial Hermann policies within budget and time constraints.
  • Supports department goals; may serve as a preceptor or mentor to less experienced staff.
  • Models compassionate, personal service and efficient experiences for patients and colleagues.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Description
Minimum Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or GED

Licenses/Certifications: (None)

Experience / Knowledge / Skills
  • 1 year experience or certificate of completion from a technical/trade school/military experience in an associated mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, electronics, general construction trade skill.
Principal Accountabilities
  • Performs a variety of routine standard servicing/repair operations to maintain hospital buildings, equipment, furnishing, fixtures and ground in proper condition as directed.
  • Performs urgent, corrective, routine and requisitioned repairs of electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems as required; performs preventative maintenance on equipment and physical structures as required, maintaining related records.
  • Assists in maintaining and repairing HV/AC controls and associated equipment to maximize efficiency levels in all environmentally controlled areas.
  • Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors, adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity of service.
  • Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education, skills competency, supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff.
