Job summary

The Washington Veterans Home is seeking a Full-Time Maintenance Mechanic 1 to maintain facilities, perform repairs, and manage grounds to keep our campus safe and welcoming for Veteran residents. A high school diploma or GED, two years of maintenance experience, and a valid driver's license are required.

Expect to work 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday, with occasional overtime to support operations. This role supports a mission-driven environment dedicated to serving those who served.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• 2 years of general work experience in building and equipment maintenance, construction or repair work, or equivalent education/experience.
• Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator’s license.
• Must be proficient in the English language.
• Agency Required Competencies: learning and growth; meeting the needs of others.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, operation, and repair of electrical, mechanical and structural systems of buildings and utility distribution.
• Operate hand tools, power tools, lawn mowers, and other equipment as needed.
• Perform minor repairs on building fixtures, plumbing, heating, laundry, and kitchen equipment, motors, and electrical appliances.
• Operate automotive equipment to transport materials and supplies.
• Mow, irrigate, fertilize, and maintain lawns.
• Plant, transplant, trim, and water plants, trees, flowers, and shrubs.
