Macy's is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic I to keep our warehouse operations running safely and efficiently. You’ll inspect, troubleshoot, and repair material handling equipment, conveyors, battery systems, and related equipment, working independently on routine tasks and collaborating on projects.

You will use shop tools, follow safety standards, and contribute to reducing downtime while supporting a positive, customer-focused environment across our distribution centers.

Qualifikationen

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1-2 years of commercial or industrial maintenance experience and/or training.
• Ability to read, understand, and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, employment policies, and procedural manuals in English.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, supervisors, customers, office staff, receiving teams, fleet maintenance administration, management, carriers, and drivers.
• Ability to add, subtract, and multiply in all units of measure using whole numbers, decimals, and fractions.
• Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality with the ability to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs.

• Observe and listen to operating machines or equipment to diagnose malfunctions and determine whether adjustment or repair is needed.
• Dismantle, inspect, repair, replace, rebuild, assemble, and test equipment and mechanical parts to verify proper operation.
• Use shop tools such as grinders, drill presses, cutting torches, and welding equipment to repair or join metal parts.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area while following OSHA, state, local, and Macy’s Logistics Operations safety standards.

Skills That Matter

Nice to Have

• Experience performing basic electrical tasks, including replacing motors, fuses, and switches.
• Experience repairing or maintaining powered industrial truck batteries, battery changers, facility sweepers, or automated warehouse equipment.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while contributing effectively as part of a team.

Full-time colleagues are typically scheduled to work 30 or more hours per week, while part‑time colleagues are typically scheduled 12-24 hours per week. All schedules contain weekend shifts as part of the requirements. Hours are dependent on business needs and colleague availability.
