Job summary

Austin-Industrial is seeking aMaintenance Support person to assist the supervision and the Austin Maintenance Mechanic in the layout, installation, and repair of piping systems for steam, hot water, petrochemicals and other processing systems.

You will learn to read blueprints and data to select material, cut, measure and thread pipe, and install pipe hangers for both new installations and maintenance work.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read blueprints, isometrics and sketches.
• Experience in industrial piping preferred (6+ months).
• Willingness to learn and assist all crafts as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assist layout, installation, maintenance and repair of piping systems for steam, hot water, petrochemicals and other processing systems.
• Read drawings to select materials, cut, measure and thread pipe, and install pipe hangers.
• Prepare piping for welding and assemble flanges for both new and maintenance work.
• Climb ladders, work at heights, and wear respiratory protection when required.
• Enter and work in cooling towers and other facilities as needed.

Job description

This person will assist as instructed by Austin supervision and the Austin Maintenance Mechanic in the layout installation, maintenance and repair of piping, piping systems, fixtures and equipment for steam, hot water, petrochemicals and other industrial processing systems.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

• Ability to be trained to read, understand and work from blueprints, isometric drawings, sketches and other data to select material, cut, measure and thread pipe, install pipe hangers, hang pipe, prepare piping for welding and assembly flanges for both new installation and maintenance operations.
• Take measurements, fit flat plate or circumference plate for inlays and overlays.
• General knowledge of tank, vessels and structural work
• Physically able to climb ladders and stairways, enter and maneuver through vessels, lift at least fifty pounds without problems, work at elevated heights and be willing to learn and help all other crafts as needed.
• Be willing to enter and work in cooling towers. Required to fit test and wear respiratory protection
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Required for this Position:

Experience – 6+ months experience in an Industrial setting preferred.
