The State of Michigan's Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to install, maintain, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair machinery and facility systems in a 24/7 residential training facility. The role requires hands-on problem solving and reliability improvements.

This is an in-person, onsite position with after-hours calls for emergencies and snow removal; pre-employment checks apply, and work occurs in Michigan.

Qualifications

  • Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school.
  • Two years of experience assisting skilled trades workers in the mechanical or electrical trades.
  • Four years of experience assisting skilled trades workers, including two years at a Mechanics level.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, inspect, troubleshoot and repair machinery, equipment and facility systems to ensure safe, continuous operations.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance and identify long-term reliability improvements.
  • Handle grounds maintenance, painting, and repair of furniture/buildings fixtures.
  • Respond to after-hours maintenance emergencies and snow removal as needed.

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for installing, maintaining, inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing machinery, equipment, and facility systems to ensure safe and efficient operations in a 24/7 residential training facility. This role performs both preventive and corrective maintenance and helps identify long-term reliability improvements. This position is also responsible for grounds maintenance, painting, repair of furniture and building fixtures. Employee may be called in after hours for maintenance emergencies and/or snow removal.

This position is in-person and onsite. This position does not have the potential for the chosen candidate to apply for a flexible/hybrid schedule.

Maintenance Mechanic 8 - E9

Completion of a recognized program in vocational training for the mechanical or electrical trades may be substituted for two years of experience assisting skilled trades workers.
