Job Description: Maintenance Mechanic - Third Class

Department: Maintenance

Job Classification: Third Class - Mechanic

Status: Hourly - Union

Reports to: Maintenance Manager

Essential Duties

1. Understand equipment functionality and analyze issues; perform adjustments or repairs as needed.
2. Complete basic repairs on pneumatics, hydraulics, conveyance systems, air compressors, and Mac valves.
3. Understand and repair solenoid switches, hydraulic cylinders, gearboxes, pumps, and related devices.
4. Read electrical schematics and use testing equipment for electrical repairs.
5. Perform general maintenance on plant equipment and building.
6. Understand boiler operations and troubleshoot steam generation issues.
7. Use hand tools and equipment for mechanical troubleshooting.
8. Complete work orders timely and maintain cleanliness.
9. Report condition issues to management.
10. Perform repairs and preventative maintenance on industrial equipment.
11. Follow supervisor directives as needed.

Additional Responsibilities

• Support SQF standards by maintaining food safety and quality, reporting issues, monitoring incoming services, and maintaining calibration and preventative maintenance programs.

Minimum Qualifications

• Knowledge of safety procedures and PPE usage.
• Adherence to GMP and PMO regulations.
• Proper documentation skills.
• Understanding of work schedules.
• Basic math skills.

Physical Demands

Must be able to talk, hear, stand, walk, bend, climb stairs, use hands, lift up to 60 pounds, read small print, and communicate effectively.

Work Environment

Expect moving machinery, high noise, wet/humid conditions, high temperatures, and temperature fluctuations.

Safety and Food Safety
