Job summary

Wausau Tile is seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to ensure continuous and safe operation of our concrete manufacturing facility in Rothschild, WI. You will perform preventive maintenance, diagnose and repair mechanical and hydraulic systems, install and test new equipment, and fabricate replacement parts as needed.

The role requires hands-on problem solving with hydraulics, pneumatics, and welding, plus the ability to work in varying weather, high-noise environments, and overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; technical certification is a plus.
• 2–5 years of industrial maintenance experience.
• Strong knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
• Proficiency with precision measurement tools and standard power tools.
• Lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces or at heights.
• Valid driver's license; forklift or welding certification is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Preventative maintenance: follow daily, weekly, monthly schedules including lubrication and cleaning.
• Troubleshooting & repair: fix mechanical and hydraulic malfunctions in equipment such as mixers and conveyors.
• Equipment installation: assemble, install, test new production machinery per specs.
• Fabrication & welding: cut, grind, weld to repair structures and parts.
• Safety & compliance: follow LOTO procedures and OSHA standards around moving parts and high-pressure systems.
• Facility upkeep: maintain buildings and yard infrastructure; basic plumbing tasks.
• Inventory management: track and order replacement parts and supplies.
• Documentation: log all activities in CMMS or daily logs.
• Communication: coordinate with shifts and leadership.

Job Details: Job Location: Building 2 - Rothschild, WI, Position Type: Full Time, Salary Range: Undisclosed, Position Summary: We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to ensure the continuous and safe operation of our concrete manufacturing facility. This role is vital for minimizing downtime through the proactive maintenance and repair of batch plants, conveyor systems, and heavy industrial machinery. The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem solver with experience in hydraulics, pneumatics, and industrial welding.

Key Responsibilities:

• Preventative Maintenance:Execute a structured daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance schedule, including lubrication of bearings, oiling of shafts, and cleaning of machine parts to prevent premature wear.
• Troubleshooting & Repair:Diagnose and repair mechanical and hydraulic malfunctions in specialized equipment such as mixers, screw conveyors, bucket elevators, and air compressors.
• Equipment Installation:Assemble, install, and test new production machinery, ensuring all components are aligned and calibrated according to manufacturer specifications.
• Fabrication & Welding:Perform metal cutting, grinding, and welding to repair worn plant structures, bins, or hoppers and fabricate replacement parts as needed.
• Safety & Compliance:Strictly adhere to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and OSHA safety standards while working around moving mechanical parts and high-pressure air systems.
• Facility Upkeep:Maintainthe physical plant structure, including basic plumbing and general repairs to buildings and yard infrastructure.
• Inventory Management:Track and order replacement parts, tools, and supplies to ensure essential items are in stock for emergency repairs.
• Documentation:Record all maintenance activities, inspections, and repair work in a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) or daily activity logs.
• Communication:Effective communication with the team is critical both on current shift and with peers and leadership on other shifts asrequired.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent; technical certification or formal apprenticeship is a plus.
• Experience: Minimum of 2–5 years of industrial maintenance experience, preferably in a concrete plant, quarry, or heavy manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
• Proficiencywith precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers) and standard power tools.
• Ability tolift upto 50lbs, climb ladders/stairs, and work in confined spaces or at heights.
• Valid driver's license is required; forklift certification or welding certification is highly desirable.
• Ability to work in extreme weather conditions (both heat and cold) and loud, dusty environments.
• Availability for overtime, shift work, and emergencycall-outs, including occasional weekends.
