Job summary

Sweeping Corporation of America in Pomfret, CT is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic for the night shift (11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.). The role installs, maintains, troubleshoots, overhauls and repairs stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment.

Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic

3rd Shift: 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m

Department: Operations

Position Overview: The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, overhauling and repairing stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Ensure safety policies, housekeeping rules and guidelines, quality standards, and standard operating procedures are followed
• Interpret blueprints and schematics when working on machines
• Install, align, dismantle and move stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment
• Inspect and examine machinery and equipment to detect and investigate irregularities and malfunctions.
• Install, troubleshoot and maintain power transmission, hydraulic, pneumatic and vacuum systems
• Adjust machinery and repair or replace defective parts
• Operate machine tools such as welders, lathes and grinders to fabricate parts required during overhaul, maintenance or set-up of machinery
• Clean, lubricate and perform other maintenance work on machinery
• Assemble machinery and equipment prior to installation using hand and power tools and welding equipment
• Perform preventative maintenance
• Complete all paperwork as required
• Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements:

• High school graduate or equivalent required
• Mechanical and equipment experience in an industrial environment preferred
• Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation
• Experience in moving, assembling, disassembling, troubleshooting and repairing various types of machinery and equipment
• Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, schematics, drawings, manuals and specifications
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Overtime may be required
