Job summary

Kraft Heinz is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic for the Lowville plant. Primary hours are 10pm–8am, Wednesday through Wednesday with six days off. The role covers preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of plant equipment including boilers, HVAC, and sanitary welding.

You will join a safety-focused team and participate in training to meet Kraft Heinz standards. Requirements include ability to work on ammonia systems, HTST equipment, and general mechanical tasks.

Qualifications

  • Maintenance experience in manufacturing settings.
  • Ability to work on plant ammonia systems and HVAC.
  • Welding sanitary welds may be required.
  • Basic electrical troubleshooting knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks as directed by maintenance planners.
  • Repair and service plant equipment, boilers, and processing systems.
  • Work on ammonia system and HTST processing equipment.
  • Support safe operation and housekeeping of the maintenance shop.

Primary work hours will be 10pm-8am, Wednesday – Wednesday followed by six days off.
Specific duties include: Successful completion of all required periodic plant and job-specific training.Perform Preventative Maintenance tasks on time as directed by maintenance planners.Participation as an active member in the PSM Team.Ability and knowledge to work on plant ammonia system.Ability to perform advanced machine tool operations.Ability to perform mechanical troubleshooting.Ability to rebuild cream cheese mix separators.Perform general repairs on plant boilers.Knowledge of HTST operation and control & processing equipment.Strong knowledge and demonstrated ability to work on the Plant’s HVAC system.Working knowledge of the operation of the evaporator.Welding including sanitary welds will be required.Must have the interpersonal skills to work with other mechanics, electricians, supervisors and production/sanitation personnel.Clean, inspect, and lube applicable equipment.Must be willing to attend training seminars as necessary to fulfill the plant’s needs as a maintenance mechanic.Basic electrical knowledge for troubleshooting.Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Comply with all Kraft policies, procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices. Maintain positive rapport with customers, suppliers, contractors, and other Associates. Participate on assigned teams; Support team decisions. Perform other duties as assigned by Manager. Must adhere to all site rules and adhere to all ways of working processes and procedures within this role. Position requires compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices, timely Period Work completion, and the ability to perform all sanitation duties. Team participation is required. Kraft Heinz Management System (KHMS) participation is required. All other duties as assigned.
Sanitation: Will ensure that the equipment and machinery he/she works with is cleaned and sanitized according to the Kraft Heinz Sanitation Program rules explained at the beginning of employment and during refresher sessions.
Quality Assurance: Ensures all products manufactured comply with the Quality Assurance Program and policies reviewed during the on the job training applicable to this specific operation function.
Safety: Will follow instructions delivered during the training that explained the fundamentals of the Kraft Heinz Safety Process and will keep himself/herself and others away from harm while performing his/her duties. Will adhere to LOTO policy and procedures.
Work on all shifts expected, Weekend and Holiday work will be required. Schedule is based on a 7 day/week production; therefore, workdays may fluctuate from week to week based on production.
