Alcami seeks a Maintenance Mechanic to maintain facility systems (electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC) and manage external vendors. This 2nd shift on-site role emphasizes preventive maintenance, safety compliance, and accurate documentation within a cGMP environment.

You will install electrical connections for new equipment, coordinate with Operations and Engineering, and ensure installations meet codes and safety standards while maintaining facility records and schematics.

Formación

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • At least three years of experience in a pharmaceutical cGMP environment.
  • Technical certificate or associate degree in a related technical field preferred.
  • Proficient with mechanical troubleshooting and problem solving.
  • OSHA safety training and LOTO training preferred.

  • Perform general facility maintenance and repair of electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
  • Inspect equipment and conduct preventive maintenance to minimize downtime.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and ensure compliance with safety standards and cGMP.

  • Source and manage external vendors, track costs, and evaluate performance.

Job Summary

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for maintaining facility systems, including electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and HVAC equipment, through repairs, inspections, and preventive maintenance activities. The Maintenance Mechanic also manages external maintenance vendors by sourcing contractors, coordinating work, and ensuring compliance with safety and company standards. Additionally, the role supports equipment installations by setting up electrical and utility connections, collaborating with operations and engineering teams, and ensuring all work meets applicable codes and regulations. Accurate documentation, reporting, and maintenance of facility records and schematics are essential responsibilities. Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, strong attention to detail, basic computer skills, effective communication abilities, and the ability to work within a cGMP-regulated environment.

On-Site Expectations
  • 100% on-site position.
  • 2nd Shift: Monday - Friday, 3:00pm - 11:30pm.
Responsibilities

Facility Maintenance & Preventive Care

  • Perform general maintenance and repair of facility systems, including electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and HVAC equipment.
  • Conduct routine inspections to identify equipment issues and ensure preventive maintenance activities are completed.
  • Troubleshoot facility and equipment problems to minimize downtime and maintain operational readiness.
  • Support compliance with safety standards, cGMP requirements, and facility maintenance procedures.

Equipment Installation & Technical Support

  • Install electrical connections, utility lines, and related infrastructure for new equipment and machinery.
  • Coordinate installation activities with Operations and Engineering teams to support production needs.
  • Verify all installations comply with applicable codes, regulations, and safety requirements.
  • Provide technical input during equipment planning, layout, and implementation projects.

Vendor & Contractor Management

  • Source and coordinate qualified external vendors for specialized maintenance and repair services.
  • Schedule, monitor, and inspect contractor work to ensure quality, safety, and compliance standards are met.
  • Maintain vendor relationships, service records, and performance metrics.
  • Track maintenance-related costs and support vendor performance evaluations.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, repairs, and equipment installations.
  • Prepare reports on equipment condition, maintenance trends, and facility performance.
  • Update facility and equipment schematics following modifications or installation projects.
  • Utilize computerized systems to document work activities and support operational recordkeeping.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • At least three years of experience in the pharmaceutical cGMP environment is required for consideration.
  • Technical certificate, vocational training, military technical training, or associate degree in Industrial Maintenance, Electrical Technology, Mechanical Maintenance, Mechatronics, HVAC, Facilities Maintenance, or a related technical field preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with mechanical troubleshooting and resolution processes.
  • OSHA safety training and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) training preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to complete and maintain cGMP and facility safety training requirements.
  • Equivalent combination of education, technical training, and relevant maintenance experience may be considered.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify issues, maintain accurate records, and ensure compliance with established procedures.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to support continuous improvement initiatives and drive quality-focused process enhancements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across Quality, Operations, and Production teams.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee will be required to wear the appropriate personal protective equipment for specific job duties to be performed. Such personal protective equipment may include, but not limited to safety eyewear, hearing protection, various types of respirators/breathing apparatus, lab coats, full protective body coverings, various types of gloves, etc. Other tasks involving elevated work may require the use of a body harness and lanyard. Additionally, the employee may be required to operate an industrial vehicle.
