Job summary

Radienz Living, a leading North American manufacturer of home and personal care products, seeks a Maintenance Mechanic for the 2nd shift in Commack, NY. You will proactively maintain production equipment, troubleshoot issues, and support uptime goals while adhering to safety policies and SOPs.

The role requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, and experience with automated production equipment is preferred.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Repair and maintain machinery and equipment per diagrams and manuals.
  • Proactively maintain machines to meet production goals for productivity, waste, quality and safety.
  • Ensure guarding and facilities are in good working order.
  • Set up and operate machines to meet manufacturing targets after repairs.
  • Record defects and report to Maintenance Manager/Shift Supervisor.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work area and follow safety regulations.
  • Perform prescribed preventative maintenance on machines as required.
  • Support production by running machines when needed to ensure continuous operation.
  • Collect data on machine operation and suggest improvements to reduce downtime.

Background

The Maintenance Mechanic proactively maintains production equipment and facilities for maximum availability. Responds to unscheduled downtime calls as required and makes required repairs to provide maximum availability. Works on trials and special projects, including capital projects as requested. Assists/mentors operators to increase effectiveness and uptime. Always works safely in a team environment.

Responsibilities
  • Uses hand tools, power tools and precision measuring and testing instruments to repair and maintain, in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer's specifications, machinery and mechanical equipment, such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment.
  • Maintains machines proactively to support plant / department goals for productivity, waste, quality, and safety.
  • Assures guarding, facilities and equipment are in good working order.
  • Sets up and operates machine and performs necessary duties to meet manufacturing and quality targets at a minimum after repairs are completed.
  • Detects, records and reports defective equipment to the Maintenance Manager/Shift Supervisor.
  • Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean, sanitary and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.
  • Performs prescribed preventative maintenance on machines as required per instruction.
  • May provide support by running production machines as necessary to ensure continuous operation and meet production schedules.
  • Collects data on machine operation and suggests actions to reduce machine downtime.
  • Efficiently manages time and completes all tasks assigned by the supervisory authority.
  • Ensures the compliance of all corporate policies and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules while conducting work functions.
  • Performs work under general supervision.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent, accreditation from a technical/vocational training or an applicable skilled trades program preferred.
  • Must be willing to accept and receive frequent supervision and assistance with regard to machine maintenance work functions.
  • Experience with automated production equipment preferred.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Sound understanding of using all electrical testing and repair equipment.
  • Excellent knowledge regarding machines, spare parts, operations and maintenance.
  • Adheres to all established SOPs, LOTO procedures, and company policies and safety procedures.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and follow directions.
Physical Demands
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent use of hands and power tools to repair, adjust, or maintain equipment.
  • May be required to climb ladders, work at heights, or access confined spaces.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and steel-toed footwear.
Work Environment
  • Primarily works in a manufacturing or production setting with exposure to moving mechanical parts, noise, heat, and varying temperatures.
  • May occasionally work in outdoor areas or non-climate-controlled environments.
  • Follows all safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Work schedule may include overtime, weekends, or off-shift hours as needed to support production operations.

The approximate hourly pay for this position is $23.07. Please note that the pay provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills and abilities as well as geographic location.
