Position Overview

American Licorice Company is expanding its automated systems. The key responsibilities of the Maintenance Technician are to perform daily equipment and building maintenance to ensure proper functioning and operation while adhering to company standards, processes and systems. Correct mechanical and electrical problems; perform preventative maintenance, as well as implementing upgrades and improvements for all company equipment and fixtures. The right candidate should have good knowledge of plumbing, welding, power transmission, industrial electronics, hydraulics/pneumatic and interpretation of blueprints. Ensure the highest level of commitment & compliance for Safe Quality Food (SQF).

Essential Job Functions
  • Perform preventative maintenance on more advanced/sophisticated production equipment.
  • Perform repairs on more advanced production equipment as needed.
  • Perform breakdown analysis.
  • Oversee or perform general housekeeping.
  • Upgrade production lines with new/upgraded equipment/technology.
  • Change line for package changeovers.
  • Enforce GMP, safety, and audit standards.
  • Work independently under limited supervision (self‑management).
  • Document work schedule and work tasks completed using CMMS.
Qualifications
  • Experience with basic electrical systems (e.g., starter, fuses, contact, relays).
  • Experience with electrical systems (installation, frequency drive, troubleshooting).
  • Experience with product manuals (reading and applying knowledge to make repairs).
  • Experience with schematics (electrical blueprint with switches, starters, maps, relays).
  • Experience with troubleshooting breakdowns (pinpointing and fixing breakdowns in electrical, mechanical, operational).
  • Experience with reading mechanical drawings (hydraulics, pneumatics).
  • Experience with mechanical systems (gear boxes, chains, sprockets, motors, seals, bearings).
  • Experience with conveyors (belts, diverters, sensors, motor/speed controls).
  • Experience with electronics (level probes, flow meters, drives/VFDs).
  • Experience with hydraulic systems (high‑pressure cylinders, pumps, valves, troubleshooting).
  • Experience with packaging/high‑speed production (flow wrappers, case packers).
  • Experience with PLC (industrial maintenance, computer control systems).
  • Experience with pneumatics (solenoids, cylinders, motor brakes).
  • Experience with preventive maintenance (computerized preventative charts/data).
  • Experience with pumps (troubleshooting, replacing seals/motors, understanding specs).
  • Experience with SERVO (intelligent/robotic motors, encoders).
  • Experience working in team‑based environments.
  • Familiarity with Multi‑head weigh units (Ishida, Yamato).
  • Familiarity with VFFS packaging machines (Triangle, Fuji).
