Job summary

Pioneer Metal Finishing, a leading surface engineering company, is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic for 1st shift in Warren, MI. You will perform maintenance, repairs and installations, diagnose issues, and ensure safety and compliance across plant equipment.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, hands-on fabrication/electrical/mechanical/plumbing knowledge, and strong communication skills. On-site role with opportunities for overtime and on-call responses.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Fabrication experience preferred or similar hands-on experience.
• Broad knowledge of electrical, mechanical and plumbing systems gained through hands-on training.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and resolve equipment malfunctions and operating difficulties (cranes/hoists, 3 phase motors, chillers, cooling towers, boilers, HVAC units, pumps, exhaust fans).
• Perform mechanical, electrical and plumbing operations.
• Start-up and shut down plant equipment and facilities as required.
• Respond to emergency calls on a 24-hour basis.
• Maintain safety and EPA compliance, and document departmental activities.
• Collaborate with EHS Leader on hazardous waste handling, labeling, containment and disposal.

As a Maintenance Mechanic, you will

• Works on job duties and assignments as they relate to maintenance, repair, installing, fabricating, adjusting, troubleshooting, and any other maintenance duties as needed.
• Responsible for communicating preventive maintenance checks.
• Responsible to communicate departmental inventory control.
• Diagnose & resolve equipment malfunctions and operating difficulties related to, but not limited to, cranes/hoists, 3 phase motors, chillers, cooling towers, boilers, HVA units, pumps, exhaust fans, etc.
• Perform mechanical, electrical and plumbing operations.
• Performs start-up and shut down functions on plant equipment and facilities as required.
• Responds to emergency calls on a twenty-four-hour basis.
• Works consistently to resolve sited safety issues in a timely manner.
• Responsible for maintaining departmental documentation as required.
• Workings safely at all times in compliance with OSHA safety and EPA regulations.
• Adheres to all Quality System procedures and work instructions.
• Works closely with EHS Leader in the handling, labeling, containment and disposal of hazardous waste.
• Performs other miscellaneous job duties and related functions, as directed by the Maintenance Manager

What to Expect on the Job

• Sharp parts, sharp tooling, heaving carts, seasonal high temperature and humidity levels, working at heights, moderate noise levels, limited hand and air tool use, compressed air (must use hearing protection).
• Must be able to wear respiratory protection when required.
• Must be able to lift 30-50 lbs. unassisted.
• Potential splash exposure near process lines.

What we're Looking For

• Must have a minimum of high school diploma or equivalent.
• Fabrication experience preferred, or similar experience.
• Requires broad based knowledge of electrical, mechanical and plumbing acquired through hands on training.
• Technical degree with a minimum of two (2) years work-related experience preferred.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Blueprint & schematic knowledge helpful.
• Great communication skills.
• Ability to work individually and part of a team.
• Enjoy working in a fast-paced environment.
