Job summary

UCP Long Island seeks a hands-on Maintenance Mechanic to keep residential facilities in excellent working order. You will perform preventive maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, electrical and fire safety systems, and handle repairs to walls, floors, doors and fixtures.

Reading blueprints and following manuals are required to complete assigned tasks. The role requires basic tools proficiency, a NYS driver's license, and adherence to OSHA safety standards.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED and 1–3 years experience as a maintenance mechanic.
  • Valid NYS driver license.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, electrical and fire safety systems.
  • Repair and replace walls, floors, doors, fixtures and other wooden or structural articles.
  • Read blueprints, schematics or manuals to complete tasks as assigned.
  • Use hand and power tools safely and maintain shop equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and agency safety policies during work.

We remain committed to our goal of Creating Life Without Limits for People With Disabilities!We are seeking a Maintenance Mechanic for a hands on position ensuring our residential facilities and kept in good working condition. This position is rresponsible for performing periodic maintenance, repair, replacement and limited troubleshooting on various facility-related equipment and/or systems, including but not limited to HVAC, plumbing, electrical and fire safety; in accordance to safety, predictive and productive maintenance systems and processes.Responsibilities include:Responsible for the maintenance and repair of various facility-related equipment and/or systems, which involves but is not limited to HVAC, plumbing, electrical and fire safety. This includes monitoring and trending, troubleshooting, repair and preventative maintenance.Conducts preventive maintenance (PM's) within manufacturer's guidelines/specifications and established timelines.Repairs and replaces walls, ceiling tiles, floors, steps, doors, window frames, tables, chairs, and other wooden articles or equipment using saws, power and hand tools.Repairs and replaces lighting fixtures, bulbs, switches, and wiring; installs simple electrical equipment and assists in installation and repair of electrical equipment.Repairs and replaces sinks, toilets, faucets, pipes, drains, and water lines; unstops toilets, drains and sewer lines; cleans grease traps.Performs masonry repair work such as preparing cement, installing reinforcing steel rods, patching and finishing cement work, and replacing damaged masonry.Paints window frames, tables, chairs, buildings, rooms, and equipment.Gathers and disposes of trash and waste materials.Moves furniture, loads and unloads supplies, moves equipment by hand or with dollies and performs other Meets with supervisor & other maintenance personnel to diagnose, plan repairs or provide support to others.Reads and interprets blue prints, schematics, manuals, and written instructions as necessary to complete an assigned taskProficient in use of hand tools, power tools, and maintenance shop equipment.Repairs and maintains tools and equipment used.May perform building service work such as sweeping, mopping and vacuuming floors and washing walls, windows, mirrors and fixtures.May perform routine grounds work and maintenance to the interior and exterior of the building including but not limited to ground maintenance, spring cleanup, mowing and trimming of small tree limbs and bushes, removing snow and ice, sweeping sidewalks, and picking up trash.Insures the facility is free of unsafe conditions and ensures the compliance of all Agency policies and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration rules (OSHA) while conducting work functions.QualificationsHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one to three years experience as a maintenance mechanic or equivalent related experience.Valid current New York State Driver LicenseUCP offers comprehensive medical and dental insurance, retirement plans including a defined contribution pension plan and optional 403b, tuition reimbursement, and generous paid time off.UCP is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
