Job description

Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic

Job Duration: 3 Months on W2

Job Location: Springfield, OR

Working Days:

Friday through Tuesday, 1400 – 2230, with Wednesday and Thursday off.

Job Description:

This position is responsible for performing maintenance activities to support the Springfield Client operation, ensuring the plant is maintained safely and efficiently, in accordance with safety protocols and operational procedures. The incumbent performs troubleshooting, communication, and resolution of equipment issues with Maintenance and Operations teams. Candidates should be self-motivated, cooperative, reliable, patient, respectful, passionate about their work, and willing to flex schedules based on business needs.

Responsibilities:
  1. Maintain a safe working environment, participate in safety initiatives, and comply with all safety policies including lockout-tagout.
  2. Conduct oneself professionally, aligning with company mission, values, and policies.
  3. Perform planned maintenance according to schedules with attention to detail.
  4. Follow work instructions, communicate issues promptly, and document repairs in the Maintenance Management System.
  5. Inspect, clean, and replace worn parts to keep equipment optimal.
  6. Execute preventive maintenance and update procedures for continuous improvement.
  7. Perform facility maintenance such as plumbing, electrical, structural, and mechanical repairs as needed.
  8. Troubleshoot equipment deficiencies, identify causes, and make corrections efficiently.
  9. Communicate effectively across all organizational levels, sharing knowledge and training peers.
  10. Adhere to personal and food safety standards.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned.
Education Required:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Basic troubleshooting skills in mechanical/electrical systems, pneumatics, steam, and electrical controls.
Preferred Education:
  • Experience in food manufacturing.
  • Certifications or training in mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, HVAC, or fabrication fields.
  • Basic to intermediate PLC/control skills.
  • Experience reading technical manuals and diagrams.
  • Proficiency with multimeters and troubleshooting tools.
Skills:
  • Proficiency with hand tools.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment, and engineering principles.
  • Problem-solving skills, including root cause analysis.
  • Ability to interpret technical data and instructions.
  • Effective communication skills in noisy environments.
  • Flexibility to work outside regular hours, including weekends.
  • Mathematical skills for measurements and calculations.
Work Environment:

The work involves exposure to moving mechanical parts, humid conditions, chemicals, loud noises, and occasional high or cold environments. Personal protective equipment is required daily. The environment ranges from indoor food production to outdoor settings, with frequent hand washing and safety precautions.
