Job summary

JLL is seeking an experienced Maintenance Mechanic to support Facilities Operations & Maintenance at a federal government facility in Lanham, Maryland. This on-site role reports to the Lead Engineer/Project Manager and performs a wide range of skilled maintenance tasks to keep building systems operating safely and efficiently.

The position requires 5–10 years of experience across mechanical, plumbing, electrical, carpentry and general maintenance, with a strong emphasis on safety and regulatory

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of experience in commercial building Operations & Maintenance.
• Hands-on experience in multiple skilled trades including mechanical, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general maintenance.
• Ability to read and follow technical manuals, SOPs, and safety guidelines.
• Experience performing preventive maintenance and responding to corrective maintenance issues.
• Strong attention to safety, regulatory compliance, and quality workmanship.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team-based, regulated environment.
• Flexibility to work overtime, respond to call-backs, and provide coverage as operational needs require.
• Must be a member of Steamfitters Local 602 union to be considered for this position.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and preventive maintenance inspections on building systems including motors, fans, pumps, plumbing, HVAC components, and basic electrical systems.
• Diagnose maintenance issues and complete repairs safely and efficiently in accordance with SOPs and safety standards.
• Repair, replace, and adjust building fixtures such as doors, hardware, lighting, ceiling and floor tiles, and restroom components.
• Maintain and service custodial and maintenance equipment, including lubrication, belt replacement, and minor mechanical repairs.
• Respond to maintenance requests, emergencies, and after-hours call-backs as needed.
• Prepare inspection reports, complete work orders, and document maintenance activities.
• Maintain cleanliness of mechanical spaces and work areas, and assist with inventory tracking and supply ordering.

What your day‑to‑day will look like:
