Job summary

QPS Employment Group in Schofield, WI is seeking an Industrial Maintenance Mechanic to troubleshoot, repair, and keep equipment running safely in a fast-paced manufacturing setting. You will address mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and drive systems and support improving maintenance programs.

The role requires an Associate's degree or equivalent experience with preferred Journeyman apprenticeship and PLC basics, offering a three-day weekend schedule (Fri-Sun) on a 12-hour shift.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in a technical field or 2–3 years in a similar role.
• Journeyman Mechanic apprenticeship strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of basic electrical, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
• Basic electro-mechanical knowledge, servo controls, VFD and PLC diagnosis.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, electrical, and drive systems.
• Troubleshoot PLC programs.
• Perform emergency repairs during production and scheduled maintenance.
• Welding with arc, mig, tig, plasma cutting, and oxy-acetylene torches.
• Perform simple machining and building maintenance duties.
• Read and interpret manuals and work orders to perform required service.
• Prioritize daily work orders while balancing breakdowns.
• Install machines per manufacturer's specifications.

Position Title: Maintenance Mechanic

Wage: $22.00 - $45.00/hour

Shift: 12 Hour Weekend Days

Hours: 5:00am - 5:00pm (Friday - Sunday)

Maintenance Mechanic Responsibilities:

• Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical systems, advanced pneumatics, advanced hydraulics, electrical, and machine drive systems
• Troubleshoot PLC programs
• Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production times and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service
• Perform welding activities using arc, mig, and tig welding, and plasma cutting, and oxy-acetylene torch techniques to ensure proper and safe penetration
• Perform simple machining duties and responsibilities
• Perform building maintenance duties including but not limited to grounds keeping, snow removal, and building upkeep
• Prioritize daily work orders/assignments while balancing daily breakdowns
• Install machines properly according to manufacturer's specifications
• Execute pipefitting
• Assist in the organization and implementation of the preventative maintenance program
• Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance service
• Operate hand and power tools including, but not limited to air tools, welders, and measuring equipment

Requirements for Maintenance Mechanic:

• Associate's degree in a technical field and/or strong knowledge of industrial maintenance normally acquired through two (2) to three (3) years of experience in a similar position required
• State indentured apprenticeship as a Journeyman Mechanic strongly preferred
• Proven knowledge of basic electrical, hydraulics, and pneumatics
• Basic knowledge in electro-mechanical, servo controls, VFD and PLC diagnosis
