Job summary

Kinder Morgan seeks a skilled technician to maintain and repair critical pumping and compression equipment in Texas. You will diagnose and fix pumps, compressors, valves, seals, and bearings, and perform alignment, vibration analysis, and preventive inspections.

The role requires hands-on field work, overtime as needed, and strict safety and regulatory compliance. Applicants should have a High School Diploma or GED and 3–5 years of industrial experience.

• Knowledge of dial indicators, calipers, micrometers, feeler gauges, vibrations meter, etc.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair compressors, pumps, and related equipment, including installation of bearings, seals and alignment.
• Maintain and repair valves (double block and bleed, gate, slab gate, ball and relief valves).
• Conduct regular inspections to prevent leaks, improper pressures, temperatures and vibration.
• Other projects as assigned.

What You Will Do

• Maintain, diagnose, troubleshoot, and make any necessary repairs to compressors, pumps, and other related equipment which includes the installation of bearings and seals and alignment.
• Valve Maintenance and repair - must have repaired and maintained double block and bleed, gate, slab gate, ball and relief valves.
• Conducts regular inspections of equipment to prevent leakage, improper operating pressures, temperatures, and vibration.
• Other projects as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

EXPERIENCE/SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE:

• 3 - 5 years’ experience in industrial field.
• Must have extensive knowledge of pump hydraulic and vibration analysis techniques.
• Knowledge of dial indicators, calipers, micrometers, feeler gauges, vibrations meter, etc.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

• Must possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers.
• Must pass and complete Safety training/certification as required by customers to work in their facilities and as required by Kinder Morgan at all locations.
• Must obtain and/or meet all requirements to enter foreign trade zones; such as background checks by both the U.S. Coast Guard and the Department of Homeland Security, i.e. obtain and maintain a Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC).
• The successful candidate must pass a written and hands‑on assessment to be considered for the position.
• The successful candidate will be required to clear a drug screen and a complete background check, after an offer has been extended and prior to being employed.

COMPETENCIES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Must be able to pass respirator fit test.
• Well-developed communication and organizational skills.
• Must be able to effectively communicate verbally with all levels of management.
• Must be willing to work overtime with little or no notice during the week, weekends, holidays, etc as dictated by operations.
• In order to perform the essential duties, regular work attendance is required.
• Must be willing and able to work as a part of team, take direction from supervisor(s), prioritize work schedules, focus attention to details, and follow work rules.
• Ability to carry a company issued cell phone/radio and be on‑call during and after regular business and non‑working hours including after dark hours, for work as may be required, assigned and scheduled as dictated by operations.

Working Conditions:

• Regularly exposed to outside in adverse weather conditions and also but not limited to: heights in excess of 5 feet, work in confined spaces and in elevated work areas, etc.
• Climb ladders and work at high elevations, using the proper safety equipment.
• Regularly required to stand, walk, climb, etc. for extended periods of time.
• Must lift 100 pounds safely.
• Must be willing to work in outdoors environment.
