Job Description

Provides for smooth operations of the Department by repairing and maintaining fixtures, furniture, appliances, machinery, and mechanical equipment in accordance with manufacturers' specifications.

Job Responsibilities

1. Performs maintenance duties:

• Performs preventive maintenance procedures.
• Performs simple skilled and semi-skilled tasks related to plumbing, electrical work, and carpentry.
• Repairs furniture and equipment, makes minor repairs at the item's location, such as furniture, office equipment, doors, hinges, faucets, drains, etc.
• Constructs or reconstructs simple equipment, anchors objects to masonry or walls.
• Installs new equipment as directed, performs wheel and caster work, and handles miscellaneous handyman jobs.
• Follows standing orders, exercises initiative and judgment to prevent property loss.
• Conducts routine inspections and inventories parts, requisitions supplies as needed.

Completes work orders:

• Fills out work order tickets for quality assurance.
• Installs and repairs hospital equipment such as electrical outlets, switches, sinks, toilets, beds, and fire extinguishers.
• Assists supervisors when requested.
• Communicates activities, needs, and issues to management.

Performs emergency repairs:

• Responds to emergencies, assists in resolving issues.
• Repairs doors and windows damaged by weather.
• Performs other emergency repairs as directed.
• Helps establish procedures for foreseeable emergencies.
• Participates in safety seminars and training.

Performs related duties as required.

Job Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Vocational training in Blueprint Reading preferred.
• Minimum of three (3) years experience as a mechanic in a related field.
