Job description

Performs skilled maintenance and repair of complex mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and other physical structures. Maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs facilities mechanical components and electrical systems in accordance with SOPs (standard operating procedures), internal requirements, manufacturer's specifications, and safety policies. Develops, maintains, and secures a spare parts inventory of basic maintenance hand and power tools. Recommends purchase of maintenance tools, equipment and supplies as required. Assists engineers in developing methods and procedures to improve facility efficiency and workflow.

Shift: Monday to Friday- 6AM start to Finish

Compensation: 30 per hour

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and troubleshoot all electrical and mechanical aspects of Material Handling Equipment (MHE) on site, including conveyor systems, sortation, etc.

  • Adjust scanners, cameras, and printer applicators.

  • Reset, repair, or replace adjustable components (belts, chains, cables) and wearing components (guides, bearings, wheels, rollers, pulleys)

  • Clean, lubricate, and calibrate equipment.

  • Use appropriate job plans, procedures, and manuals.

  • Maintain and troubleshoot motors, photo eyes, relays, proximity sensors, solenoids, motor starters, tachometers, encoders, etc.

  • Assist with basic electronics/ Programmable Logic Controls troubleshooting.

  • Repairs and maintains all material handling equipment and dock equipment (i.e., doors, levelers, seals, etc.).

  • Maintains batteries and chargers for forklifts.

  • Repairs and maintains HVAC systems, lighting systems, electrical systems, and plumbing.

  • Repairs, maintains, programs, and installs conveyor systems and air systems.

  • Repairs, installs, and maintains racking.

  • Maintains fire suppression systems and fire alarm systems.

  • Performs welding and fabrication for the facility.

  • Maintains waste disposal equipment.

  • Assists with and/or responsible for new office construction and cubicle installation. Assists teammates with interoffice moves.

  • Repairs floors and maintains roof.

  • Installs voice and data cabling.

  • Responsible for snow removal from sidewalk, steps, etc. Coordinate with contractor regarding removal of snow from parking lots, lawn care, roof repair, etc.

  • Maintains parts inventory.

  • Receives/responds to daily calls regarding problems and repairs.

  • Performs routine preventative maintenance/repair of electric vehicles and pallet trucks (repair/rebuild).

  • Assists in internal audit requirements.

  • Performs general repairs that do not require a specialized technician. Examples may include repairing drywall, painting, repairing doors, workstations, desks, and other building fixtures.

  • Repairs and maintains building perimeter structures, such as doors, etc.

  • Records maintenance & repair activities and environmental material handling data in identified database.

  • Maintains cleanliness, organization, and safety of the facility.

  • Operation of powered industrial vehicle as needed.

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma/GED

  • One or more years of related experience (facilities/equipment/mechanical maintenance, etc.)

  • Industrial Electrician, Maintenance Mechanic, Machinist certifications highly preferred

  • Or any combination of experience and education to meet the above requirements.

  • Preventive/predictive maintenance procedures

  • Basic Carpentry and Plumbing

  • Basic blueprint and schematic reading

  • Basic AC/DC electrical and electronic principles - Familiar with simple wiring diagrams, symbols, and electrical measuring

  • Basic metal fabrication and welding

  • Basic Industrial Controls

  • Experience with automated conveyor systems and controls.

  • Experience with Material Handling Equipment (MHE) safety standards.

  • Experience with Programmable Logic Control (PLC) programs.

  • Ability to troubleshoot basic Input/Output functions

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Excellent working knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic theory

  • Working knowledge and ability to troubleshoot industrial machinery and equipment: electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and PLC logic systems.

  • Must have the ability to lift routinely up to 30 pounds.

  • May be required to lift items weighing 70 pounds.

  • Ability to follow electrical code manuals to perform maintenance and repair on industrial machinery and equipment.

  • Ability to test and diagnose AC circuits that are 480,220,120 volts.

  • Ability to operate a forklift.

  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to positively deal with problems and resolve issues as they relate to the maintenance of the production facility.

  • Monitors own work to ensure quality.

  • Works efficiently; completes work in timely manner.

  • Strong attention to detail and adaptability

  • Maintains an urgent, proactive demeanor.

  • Friendly, professional attitude with excellent communication and listening skills

Additional Requirements

  • Physical Demands (must be able to perform with or without reasonable accommodation:

  • Regular bending, lifting, stretching, and reaching both below the waist and above the head.

  • Walking within and around the site with great frequency

  • Ability to climb ladders and gangways safely and without limitation and work off platforms and equipment at significant heights.

  • Full manual dexterity in both hands and wrists, eye/hand coordination, feet (foot pedals), manual (picking, pinching, holding, grasping), and wrist motion (repetitive flexion/rotation

  • Working conditions may include small spaces, dust, fumes/odors, hot/cold temperatures, inside/outside noise, vibration, standing on concrete for long hours and wet or uneven surfaces.

  • Possess or ability to obtain a valid driver’s license.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
