Evonik in Hopewell, Virginia, is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic who serves as a multi-disciplined foreman. You will perform preventative and unscheduled repairs on chemical plant and facilities equipment, supervise contractor work, and operate site utility systems including boilers and wastewater.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, technical maintenance training, and at least 3 years of plant maintenance experience.

The Maintenance Mechanic serves as a Multi-disciplined Mechanic with working foreman responsibilities. Provides emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during scheduled machine service outages. Participates as assigned in various maintenance related projects. Serves as the operator of utility systems on site where the maintenance and facilities team is assigned. Serves as a contractor coordinator and trains and oversees operations as they support Autonomous Maintenance activities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on all chemical plant and facilities equipment to include pumps, agitators, boilers, associated piping, etc. As applicable, overhauling, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing chemical plant equipment, which includes but is not limited to turbines, fans, blowers, pumps, gearboxes, and conveyors
• Serves as the operator of the site utilities - in particular the site boiler, chiller, Compressed Air, Wastewater system, etc.
• Reads and interprets equipment manuals, procedures and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
• Serve as a foreman/lead technician for jobs where 3rd party contractors are assigned.
• Ability to test and chemically treat the water side of boilers and cooling towers.
• Trains and oversees operation personnel for preventative maintenance activities as it applies to the Autonomous Maintenance program.
• Participates in and may be responsible (as assigned) for the creation of procedures as it applies to the repair and maintenance of Mechanical and Process equipment, especially as it applies to Autonomous maintenance.
• HVAC Equipment Maintenance, Vibration analysis, etc.
• Bolting, clamping, and welding together metal components of products such as piping systems, plate, pipe and tube or structural shapes, using arc and arc gas welding equipment

REQUIREMENTS

Must have high school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of 3 years experience in plant maintenance and have demonstrated knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the above-mentioned tasks. Technical training in the maintenance field. Experience with Maintenance management systems like SAP Knowledge and experience in Microsoft software is appreciated. Demonstrated general knowledge of electricity, HVAC systems, and welding. Knowledgeable in the procedures and safety measures in areas of specialty.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. (Specific rate to be determined, but not limited to, geographic location, education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data). Pay Range: $38-$43 per hour
