Job summary

US Foods, Inc. is seeking a maintenance technician to uphold and repair warehouse equipment including pallet jacks, highlifts, forklifts, and batteries in Garyville, LA. Shift: Monday–Friday 8:30 AM–5:00 PM; pay starts at $25 per hour with the potential to earn up to $31 per hour based on experience and location.

Benefits begin on day one. You will review equipment reports, perform preventative maintenance, maintain logs, and ensure safety compliance with Lock Out/Tag Out procedures.

Qualifications

• High School education or equivalent preferred; trade school degree preferred.
• Minimum six months of mechanic experience required.
• Knowledge of equipment repair and operation; able to read and write; basic mathematical skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs and maintenance to warehouse equipment (pallet jacks, high-lifts, forklifts, batteries, etc.).
• Review equipment reports, record actions/repairs, and maintain repair log per USF policy.
• Perform preventive maintenance and maintain PM logs with proper documentation.
• Comply with safety guidelines (Lock Out/Tag Out, placarding, safe work environment).
• Maintain and secure battery-charging area and equipment.
• Manage company tools and maintenance inventory; ensure proper storage and security.
• If authorized, purchase tools from local vendors to perform duties.
• Perform light maintenance tasks (bulbs, painting, rack repairs, basic plumbing, etc.).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform necessary repairs and maintenance to warehouse-related equipment (i.e. pallet jacks, high-lifts, forklifts, etc.) to insure that adequate machinery is available for day and night warehouse operations.
• Review any equipment reports submitted by warehouse associates, record actions/repairs taken, and maintains a repair log per USF policy.
• Perform PM’s (Preventative Maintenance) on equipment, and maintain PM log with proper documentation, per USF policy.
• Comply with all USF and government guidelines regarding safety when working on equipment (i.e. Lock Out/Tag Out, placarding and required documentation, safe work environment, etc.)
• Maintain and secure the battery-charging area, batteries and other equipment contained therein.
• Responsible for company tools and maintenance equipment used in performance of job duties, including inventory maintenance, safe operation, proper storage, and security of tool area.
• If authorized, may purchase tools and other equipment needs from local vendors to perform required duties.
• Performs light maintenance duties as assigned (i.e., replacement of light bulbs, painting, storage rack repairs, light plumbing, equipment repairs, basic drywall and concrete repairs, etc.).

QUALIFICATIONS

• Education/Training: High School education or equivalent preferred; additional mechanic training or trade school degree preferred.
• Related Experience: A minimum of six months previous mechanic experience required.
• Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Knowledge of equipment repair and operation; able to repair and overhaul warehouse equipment; welding ability; able to read and write legibly; able to follow orders; basic mathematical skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide); able to work with little direct supervision

Compensation depends on relevant experience and/or education, specific skills, function, geographic location, and other factors as applicable by law. The expected base rate for this role is between $25 per hour and $31 per hour.
