Job summary

Bunge is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic in Emporia, KS to perform maintenance and repairs on soybean processing equipment. You will read manuals, perform preventive work, rebuild parts, and weld as needed. This role requires teamwork, safety focus, and proficiency in English.

Day shift M-F with overtime and on-call as needed. Experience with SAP, PLC, HVAC is preferred, and a strong commitment to a safe work environment is expected.

Responsibilities

• Install and maintain production machines and plant equipment.
• Read manuals, blueprints, and work orders for maintenance tasks.
• Perform preventive maintenance on machines and facilities.
• Rebuild/repair/replace damaged parts.
• Troubleshoot electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
• Diagnose problems, replace parts, test and adjust.
• Use hand and power tools and material handling equipment.
• Weld and fabricate from sheet metal (Stick, MIG, TIG).
• Complete emergency and scheduled maintenance during production.
• Identify faulty operations and report issues to supervision.
• Rebuild pumps and gearboxes.
• Inspect conformity to standards and specs.
• Maintain a safe, clean work area and participate in safety programs.
• Other duties as assigned.

A Day in the Life:

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for performing maintenance repairs in a soybean processing facility. They perform routine and preventative maintenance on all equipment in the plant.

Day shift, M-F, ability to work overtime and on-call as needed

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and the plant facility’s equipment
• Read and interpret equipment manuals, blueprints, and work orders to perform required maintenance and service
• Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment, and plant facility
• Rebuild, repair, and replace damaged, defective, or worn parts
• Perform mechanical tasks including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting, and repair of production machines
• Diagnose problems, replace, or repair parts, test and adjust as needed
• Use a variety of hand and power tools, and material handling equipment
• Perform welding including light fabrication of spouts, transitions, etc. from sheet metal including all positions (Stick, MIG and TIG)
• Complete emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and perform scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service
• Detect faulty operations, defective material, and report those and any unusual situation to proper supervision
• Rebuild pumps and gearboxes
• Inspect for conformity to industry standards or specifications
• Maintain a safe work environment for self and all employees
• Participate in Bunge’s Employee Safety Involvement Plan
• Comply with safety regulations and maintain a clean and orderly work area
• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

• General troubleshooting and maintenance skills
• Welding experience (stick and MIG)
• Knowledge of bearing installation and clearance setting
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
• Demonstrated ability to work in a safety conscious environment
• Good written and verbal communications skills
• Must be proficient in reading, speaking, and writing English

Preferred Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED
• Experience with SAP maintenance software
