  • Ability to use maintenance shop equipment and work in hot conditions, stand for long periods, and crawl under equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical issues on high-speed production line equipment, including drives and conveyors.
  • Collaborate with Electrical staff to diagnose and repair electrical issues on packaging and processing equipment.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance safely, cost effectively, and on schedule.
  • Support food safety, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Order design or fabrication of replacement parts or equipment as needed.

Job description

Electrical Automation Services is seeking a dependable Maintenance Mechanic to join a stable, long-established production team with no history of layoffs. This role is responsible for troubleshooting and repairing mechanical and electrical issues on high-speed production line equipment, performing preventative maintenance, and supporting food safety and continuous improvement efforts within a can manufacturing environment. This is a full-time position offering long-term career stability within a strong, established team.The schedule includes a rotating 12-hour shift pattern between 7:00 PM and 7:00 AM, with alternating days that change weekly, including required weekend work. A typical rotation includes a half-day Monday, off Tuesday, a 12-hour shift Wednesday, and additional 12-hour shifts covering Thursday through Sunday. Shifts may be traded with similarly trained teammates as needed. Overtime is paid after 40 hours per week, and double time is paid after 48 hours per week.Key ResponsibilitiesTroubleshoot and repair mechanical issues with high-speed production line equipment, including mechanical drive systems, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and conveyors.Work with Electrical staff to troubleshoot and repair electrical issues related to packaging and processing equipment, including wiring, circuits, fuses, switches, motors, and drives.Complete routine preventative maintenance tasks safely, cost effectively, and on schedule.Support food safety, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives.Request the design or fabrication of replacement parts or equipment as needed.Lead consultations with internal resources to resolve equipment issues and identify improvements.Maintain a clean and orderly work area, ensuring workspace and storage areas remain free from debris and clutter.Perform other duties as assigned.QualificationsTwo years of previous experience as a Production Line Mechanic or Technician preferred, or an equivalent technical degree or education.Experience with packaging equipment or steel aerosol can and aluminum can making equipment is a plus.Understanding of automation principles and controls logic is a plus.Ability to use maintenance shop equipment is a plus.Ability to stand for extended periods and work in hot conditions, as well as crawl under equipment and climb ladders.Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.Ability to work occasional weekends and maintain a flexible work schedule, including 42–48 hours per week as needed.Benefits401(k)Dental insuranceHealth insurancePaid time offVision insuranceIndividuals with a criminal record are encouraged to apply.
