Job summary

Ventura Foods LLC in Mitchellville, IA is seeking a maintenance technician to perform repair, adjustment and routine maintenance on production equipment and facilities. Apply mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic maintenance practices.

Job Summary

Perform maintenance activities such as repair, adjust, and maintain production equipment, facilities and power lift equipment. Apply mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic maintenance practices.

Principal Duties/Responsibilities
  • Adjust, repair and maintain production equipment using generally recognized maintenance practices.
  • Perform periodic preventive maintenance activities.
  • Assist operating personnel with running adjustments as instructed.
  • Know and apply mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, and hydraulic maintenance.
  • Maintain regular attendance on the job, demonstrating dependability and reliability.
  • Adhere to all safety rules and regulations.
  • Use basic hand and machine shop tools.
  • Understand and use correct Lockout/Tagout Procedures.
  • Complete special maintenance assignments or other tasks as assigned.
  • Be trained and certified to operate powered fork trucks and pallet jacks.
  • Act with ordinary care of tools and machines to keep them in safe operating condition and prevent damage.
  • Maintain work area neat and orderly.
  • Perform added duties as needed.
  • Travel up to 10% between buildings.

Qualifications

  • Read and interpret written specifications, instructions, drawings, schematics and blueprints.
  • Perform routine decisions of immediate importance.
  • Demonstrate good hand, eye and foot coordination.
  • Read labels and MSDS sheets of chemicals/solvents.
  • Perform tasks involving climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, feeling, lifting and grasping.
  • Execute detailed written or verbal instructions.
  • Perform heavy physical work, exerting up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, up to 50 lbs. of force frequently and up to 20 lbs. constantly.
