Job summary

Hilmar Cheese Company is seeking a Maintenance Materials Clerk at our Dalhart, TX facility to monitor and maintain min/max levels for maintenance parts inventory, receiving materials, and verifying contents against packing lists and PO documents.

The role includes forklift operation, data entry for inventory movements, weekly cycle counts, and stocking responsibilities, with emphasis on safety, teamwork, and adherence to SOPs.

Qualifications

• English proficiency to read, write and speak
• Ability to work 12 hour shifts, including weekends and overtime
• Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and warehouse software
• Inventory control or MRO materials experience
• Ability to lift up to 60 lbs

Responsibilities

• Examine incoming shipments and reject damaged goods
• Communicate concerns, forecasts, overages, and discrepancies clearly
• Safely operate forklift or hand truck for material movement
• Allocate and distribute parts, inventory items, and tools
• Relieve off-going staff and take over unfinished duties
• Input data for all part inventory movements
• Tag and trace inventory containers
• Conduct weekly cycle counts
• Maintain orderly stock room operations
• Receive and store materials and simple tools
• Identify storage locations and set up new stock items
• Filling orders to reservations and work orders
• Participate in training and development programs
• Support food safety and sanitation policies and log sheets
• Prioritize safety and wear PPE as required
• Read, understand and follow Hilmar SOPs
• Assist in other areas as needed

A Typical Day

The Maintenance Materials Clerk is responsible for monitoring and maintaining min/max levels for maintenance parts inventory. Responsibilities will include, receiving materials, which include: verification of contents, counts, weights, or measures of incoming materials to information against packing lists and purchase order documents.

Job Responsibilities

• Responsible for examination of incoming shipments and rejection of damaged goods.
• Responsible for communicating in detail, professionally and respectfully all concerns, forecasting, overages, and/or discrepancies both internally and externally
• Required to safely operate a forklift or use hand truck or other hand tools to safely move incoming shipments from shipping and receiving dock to storage, or customer designated area.
• Responsible for allocation and distribution of parts, inventory items, and tools.
• Responsible for relieving off going shift/staff and taking over their duties that were not completed.
• Ability to follow-up on communications or requests, completing the request
• Responsible for data input of all part inventory movements.
• Responsible for Identification tags and traceability of all outside inventory containers contents.
• Responsible for completion of cycle counts on a weekly basis.
• Responsible for the efficient and orderly operation of the stock room.
• Responsible for receiving and storing a wide variety of materials, supplies, parts, simple hand tools, etc.
• Responsible for selecting and properly identifying suitable storage locations, such as shelves, bins, containers, and racks for all articles.
• Responsible for setting up new stock items to a storage bin location
• Accurately fills orders to reservations and/work orders a timely manner.
• Active participation and ownership in your training and development program and associated activities, classes and events, which will be held before, during, after shifts and during scheduled days off.
• Assist in coaching and training teammates and participate in on-the-job training.
• Place high priority on food safety and sanitation by understanding and executing HCC’s food safety and sanitation policies and procedures and completion of log sheets. This includes communicating any food safety incident, observation, or opportunity to your leadership team or teammates and participating in food safety and sanitation root cause analysis and improvement activities when required.
• Prioritize safety above all other job duties by always having a safety-first approach. This includes reporting any safety issues, observations, opportunities to your leadership team, teammates and follow up. As well as wearing all required PPE per Hilmar’s policies
• Ability to read, understand, and follow Hilmar SOP’s
• Availability to help in other areas as required

What Will Put You Ahead

• High School diploma or GED from an accredited institution
• APICS accreditation or Parts Management experience
• SAP experience
• Forklift Experience
• Inventory control experience with MRO materials or related field
• Skilled as a Chemical Receiver or Central Receiving Clerk (Level 2 roles)
