Job summary

Mars Petcare is seeking a Maintenance Shift Manager for a Kansas City, MO plant. This full-time role leads a maintenance team across machining, equipment repair, and preventive maintenance under TPM/Lean environments.

The successful candidate will supervise staff, manage PM systems, control costs, and drive continuous improvement to meet safety, quality, and production goals in a 12-hour shift, 4-on-4-off schedule.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in a technical-related discipline or 10+ years of technical experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a technical discipline.
• 5+ years of recent technical leadership experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Experience with TPM/Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a maintenance team, including equipment breakdown repair, preventive maintenance, and management of maintenance costs.
• Ensure maintenance assignments are carried out safely and efficiently; troubleshoot plant equipment.
• Supervise maintenance staff directly.
• Set up, maintain PM systems, inspection routines, inventory control, job scheduling, staff training, and plant improvement plans.
• Control maintenance expenditure in a cost-effective way according to the site budget for site repairs, resources, direct labor, and overtime.
• Manage projects aimed at asset improvement, safety, and equipment reliability, utilizing process and project engineering skill sets.
• Identify and pursue continuous improvement opportunities to reduce manufacturing costs in the production areas.
• Leads the plant PM function by developing and managing PM implementation plans.

Position: Full-Time Maintenance Shift Manager

Required Shifts: 12 Hour Shifts - Day Shift; 6 p.m. - 6:30am. No rotating shifts!

Shift Schedules: Schedule is 4 on 4 off

Mar Petcare is looking for a Maintenance Shift Manager to join our exciting Nutro business at one of our manufacturing plants located in Kansas City, Mo.

Serves as a technical resource and leads a maintenance team for their assigned department and/or shift to ensure plant equipment is properly maintained by skilled, cross-functional technicians. Responsible for leading a team that supports the site, consistently meeting or exceeding safety, quality, environmental, regulatory, financial, and product supply goals.

Responsible for leading maintenance associates to eliminate all causes of failure to ensure full useful life in coordination with daily autonomous maintenance completed by operating personnel. Leads activities of workers engaged in repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment. Provides technical and problem-solving support for the plant and maintenance crews. Supports and executes plant-specific maintenance strategies to achieve plant key performance goals for overall maintenance performance. Inspects operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards.

What are we looking for?

• Associates degree in a technical related discipline, or greater than 10 years of experience in a technical-related field of work Preferred:
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a technical discipline
• 5+ years recent experience in a progressive technical leadership capacity working in a manufacturing/industrial environment.
• Experience with operating within a formalized Continuous Improvement Environment (TPM, Lean Manufacturing).

What will be your key responsibilities?

• Supervise a maintenance team, including equipment breakdown repair, preventative maintenance and associated systems, and management and control of maintenance costs.

• Manages overhaul, modernizing, and building of a diverse range of machinery and parts to ensure cost-effective modifications and improvements
