Responsibilities

Job Summary

The position will apply Lean Manufacturing and other continuous improvement initiatives to manage the physical infrastructure of the plant and its equipment. This includes the design, installation, operation, maintenance, modification, construction, safety, and protection of the physical facilities and equipment used to manufacture technologically sophisticated products.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities, not limited to:

Assess and prioritize--understands business and operation; assesses emergent needs alongside planned interventions and adjusts based on priority; uses data to make right decisions and can justify them as needed; even handed in prioritization and communication; manages expectations and negotiates where appropriate

Horizon focus--wields influence to shift focus from restoration and problem solving to improvements and strategic investments, yet understands the immediacy of issues and acts quickly to remedy critical issues; maintains critical inventory to address common or anticipated needs

Standardization--creates timelines and a compelling case for planned interventions; scales across units and facilities where applicable; collaborates with other leaders who own aspects of processes to align and agree; creates contingency strategies and procedures

Critically objective--orchestrates among competing priorities; eliminates subjective criteria; handles pressure from multiple sources dispassionately; leads by example and confidence to meet challenges; evaluative, not reactive

Matrixed communication--Seeks and provides information from/to multiple sources across the enterprise; gains broad and deep understanding of business priorities and aligns interventions accordingly; obtains real-time feedback from floor-level associates and plans with staff level leaders to minimize disruption of necessary interventions; ensures advance notice and full reporting occur

Coordination--hires, manages and evaluates outside contractors; ensures quality of information and context to those who are adjunct but critical to the process; integrates external assistance at scale; assigns internal resources based on talent and capability; maintains culture of service and safety as paramount

Talent acceleration--understands the necessity of development even in the midst of technical expertise; identifies and creates opportunities to expose outside talent to existing processes and existing talent to outside processes

Job Responsibilities

Lead by example that safety is a way of life.

Lead/Manage the Maintenance and Facilities Engineering departments.

Drive asset utilization. Shorten cycles, minimize downtime, and keep equipment running. Utilizes 8 pillars of TPM.

Minimize unplanned equipment downtime and maximize equipment reliability by employing TPM and other Lean initiatives.

Ensure Facilities metrics are well-known, and track progress toward achieving department objectives.

Establish project goals and lead the group effort toward successfully completing those projects.

Manage the maintenance and repair budget.

Contribute to cross-functional continuous improvement initiatives for safety, on-time delivery, production efficiency, and scrap reduction.

Develop the capabilities of those in the department through teaching, coaching, establishing high standards, and ensuring accountability.

Exhibit and promote an attitude on the plant floor that leads to an engaged and energized workforce.

Advise, assist and review all matters involving capital and major expenses. Review and edit all requests for assets (RFA) and author those pertaining to the facility.

ASAT management – audits and improvements.

Represent Howmet at community planning boards.

Daily help manage parts and expedite parts as necessary.

Troubleshoot equipment – sense of urgency.

Daily review of PM’s equipment down with team.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution.

5 years related maintenance experience in a manufacturing plant.

3 years management experience in a manufacturing plant.

This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
