Job summary

Brookdale Senior Living seeks a facilities supervisor to manage associates responsible for general operating maintenance and repair of buildings and grounds. The role ensures compliance with federal, state, local standards and company policies.

  • High school diploma or GED with 2–3 years related experience or training.
  • Valid driver’s license for vehicle travel as needed.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work with sound judgment.

Job Overview

Manages the associates responsible for the general operating maintenance and repair of the buildings and grounds to maintain proper care of the assigned community(s) in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, regulations, and company policies.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise community maintenance, housekeeping, and laundry staff, including hiring, training, performance evaluation, and disciplinary actions.
  • Direct workers engaged in the maintenance and upkeep of the interior and exterior of the community.
  • Inspect completed work for conformance to standards and policies.
  • Oversee scheduled maintenance of HVAC, elevator, fire and sprinkler equipment, generators, landscape, kitchen equipment, and emergency pull cords.
  • Coordinate maintenance requests from residents for repairs in their rooms, such as plumbing, electrical, heating, and light bulb replacement.
  • Assess plumbing and electrical problems within the community and determine the best course of action.
  • Ensure adherence to local and state codes and review safety data sheets for hazardous chemicals.
  • File property damage claims in accordance with company policy.
  • Respond to resident or community emergencies by providing assistance as needed.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) and two to three years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid state driver’s license required for vehicle travel as needed.
  • Extensive knowledge of a distinct skill or function with the ability to multi‑task and prioritize work.
  • Sound judgment and experience to solve moderately complex problems based on precedent, example, reasonableness, or a combination of these.
