Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Ensure the safe and efficient operation of all equipment to meet or exceed company-established Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and customer quality expectations.
- Monitor equipment OEE for inefficiencies and recommend or make necessary improvements.
- Develop improvements for safer and more efficient operations.
- Ensure all machine guards are in place and functional; correct unsafe conditions immediately.
- Follow Lock‑out / Tag‑out policy and troubleshoot all major problems.
- Implement and sustain the Ring Family Culture in the facility; prioritize employees, welcome them each day, and conduct focused walks semi‑weekly to engage with staff.
- Support employee engagement initiatives, recognize achievements, provide feedback, and celebrate wins.
- Educate plant personnel on safe and proper operation of machinery; develop problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills for maintenance staff.
- Maintain accurate parts inventory within budget, order and keep min/max levels, and coordinate downtime for preventive maintenance.
- Keep the Computerized Maintenance Management Software (CMMS) system current; manage equipment files, vendor records, quotes, manuals, and repair records.
- Examine and control maintenance and repair costs; use appropriate repair and purchasing methods.
- Coordinate with the Quality Leader to ensure equipment meets quality specifications and food‑safety requirements.
- Identify and remove non‑conforming equipment that affects safety, food safety, or product quality until repaired or replaced.
- Allocate sufficient maintenance budget to uphold high standards of quality and food safety.
- Schedule and coordinate Total Productive Manufacturing (TPM) events; establish and maintain TPM standards on all equipment.
- Maintain employee documentation, schedule labor, and review performance evaluations, attendance records, and time cards.
- Direct the work of employees to correct improper habits or behavior; reward good performance and take corrective action as needed.
- Communicate problems, progress reports, and continuous improvement ideas to management and staff.
- Perform duties of Production Supervisor as required; ensure maintenance staff follow food‑safety and food‑defense programs.
- Support Safe Quality Food Institute (SQFI) or British Retail Consortium (BRC) standards; follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), HACCP, and prerequisite food‑safety programs.
- Maintain a clean shop, parts room, and equipment; assign housekeeping duties and follow the Master Cleaning and Sanitization Schedule.
- Serve as a Committee Member on Management Staff TPM Committee, Safety Committee, and Problem‑Solving Team.
Key Job Performance Measures
- Effectiveness of CMMS usage.
- Monitoring equipment downtime—scheduled versus unscheduled.
- Maintaining maintenance expenses within the assigned budget.
- Reconciliation of all generated preventive maintenance tasks in CMMS.
Experience, Educational and Technical Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
- 4‑year technical degree or equivalent military experience.
- Strong technical guidance ability based on experience and industry knowledge.
- Leadership qualities, managerial abilities, sense of urgency, accountability, business ethics, professionalism, self‑motivation, and a desire to improve the business.
