Job summary

Evonik Group is seeking a Maintenance Manager in Reserve, LA to lead all maintenance operations within a chemical/process environment. The role focuses on safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance while directing preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs.

You will oversee planning, scheduling, and execution, manage contractors, and drive continuous improvement with cross-functional teams. A strong background in mechanical integrity and SAP/CMMS is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or related field.
• 3–5+ years of maintenance leadership experience in chemical/process industries.

Responsibilities

• Lead maintenance operations with a strong safety-first culture and ensure compliance with EHS and regulatory requirements.
• Develop and oversee preventive, corrective, and compliance maintenance programs to maximize equipment reliability.
• Manage mechanical integrity programs including inspections of tanks, vessels, safety devices, and PSV systems.
• Oversee maintenance planning, scheduling, and execution to improve workflow and plant reliability.
• Coach and develop maintenance teams, contractors, and technical personnel; ensure training and performance management.
• Manage contractor programs including selection, coordination, safety compliance, and procurement collaboration.
• Plan and execute maintenance turnarounds, shutdowns, and major repairs with safety, quality, schedule, and cost control.
• Support CAPEX projects and asset reliability strategies with Engineering and cross-functional teams.
• Manage maintenance budgets, spare parts inventory, SAP/ERP processes, and resource planning.
• Partner with site leadership to drive continuous improvement, RCA, reliability, and long-term maintenance strategies.

Maintenance activities can range from janitorial, caretaker, manual maintenance work, carpentry, painting and plumbing.**RESPONSIBILITIES*** Lead and manage all maintenance operations while promoting a strong safety-first culture and ensuring compliance with EHS, OSHA, EPA, PSM, RMP, ISO, and regulatory requirements.* Develop, implement, and oversee preventive, corrective, and compliance maintenance programs to maximize equipment reliability and minimize downtime.* Manage mechanical integrity programs, including inspections of tanks, pressure vessels, safety devices, PSV systems, and compliance with RAGAGEP standards.* Lead maintenance planning, scheduling, and execution activities to improve workflow efficiency, equipment performance, and overall plant reliability.* Supervise, coach, and develop maintenance teams, contractors, and technical personnel while ensuring training, performance management, and skill development.* Manage contractor programs, including selection, coordination, performance oversight, safety compliance, and partnership with Procurement on service agreements.* Plan and execute maintenance turnarounds, shutdowns, and major repair activities while ensuring safety, quality, schedule adherence, and cost control.* Support CAPEX projects and long-term asset reliability strategies by collaborating with Engineering and cross-functional teams on equipment improvements.* Manage maintenance budgets, spare parts inventory, SAP/ERP maintenance processes, cost forecasting, and resource planning to support operational goals.* Partner with site leadership to drive continuous improvement initiatives, root cause analysis (RCA), reliability improvements, and long-term maintenance strategies.**REQUIREMENTS*** Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field is preferred.* 3–5+ years of maintenance leadership experience is preferred; or 10+ years of equivalent maintenance leadership experience, preferably in the chemical process industry.* Proven ability to lead maintenance teams, drive projects, build employee engagement, and foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.* Strong experience with Root Cause Analysis (RCA), troubleshooting, reliability improvements, and maintenance best practices.* Working knowledge of SAP or CMMS systems, Process Safety Management (PSM), and maintenance planning processes.* Strong understanding of mechanical integrity standards and regulatory requirements, including API, ASME, NFPA, NEC, BPVC, STI, and UL standards preferred.* Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments, teams, and diverse backgrounds.The Evonik Group adopts an Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) approach.
