Job summary

MDAEdge in Portland, OR is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Manager to supervise maintenance of production equipment, buildings and utilities. You will provide floor leadership, guide mechanics and operators, and drive improvements through uptime and process optimization.

The role requires strong electrical/PLC proficiency, manufacturing experience, and a proven ability to manage safety, budgeting and training programs. Salary commensurate with experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 6+ years maintenance experience with electrical/PLC proficiency.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; some public speaking encouraged.
  • Industrial maintenance in electrical refrigeration hydraulics or mechanical focus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with planning and implementing plant improvements and expansions.
  • Ensure maintenance personnel are trained on updated equipment and safety programs.
  • Monitor plant equipment to minimize downtime and solve issues promptly.
  • Maintain SAP CMMS for work orders and inventory tracking.
  • Recommend improvements based on data analysis to optimize operations.
  • Train and motivate maintenance staff to work safely and efficiently.
  • Oversee safety, OSHA, PSM, and environmental compliance.
  • Manage purchasing and use of maintenance parts and supplies.

  • This is a hands‑on position that requires floor presence, active leadership, and a willingness to work with and assist mechanics, technicians and operators.
  • We are seeking someone willing and able to provide hands‑on guidance and support throughout equipment breakdowns, continuous improvement opportunities and process optimization efforts.

SUMMARY

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILIITES:
  • Assist with planning and implementing plant improvements and expansions.
  • Ensure that all maintenance personnel are well trained on the most updated version of operating equipment as well as other maintenance skills; provide a safe workplace and comply with all safety and regulated programs.
  • Monitor operation of plant equipment and systems constantly to minimize unplanned downtime anticipate and solve problems in a timely manner and identify issues.
  • Establish and maintain a computerized maintenance management system SAP for tracking work orders adequate and appropriate inventory of replacement parts.
  • Make recommendations for improving plant operations and solving maintenance related problems through analyzing data.
  • Ensure that all maintenance personnel are properly trained equipped and motivated so maintenance programs and processes can be accomplished in a safe timely and efficient manner.
  • Ensure the Costal Training system is in place and communicated to maintenance personnel and provide the resources for skillsets needed.
  • Maintain a tracking system that assists in analyzing key maintenance parameters such as asset utilization, maintenance cost, PM compliance, etc.
  • Ensure all safety, health, OSHA, PSM, and environmental policies and procedures are in compliance with company policy as well as local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Ensure safety program is communicated and enforced.
  • Monitor and administer purchasing and use of all parts and equipment materials and supplies utilized in the maintenance department.
  • Ensure refrigeration system and wastewater systems are well maintained and meet all regulatory guidelines.
  • Administer the maintenance budget and ensure the achievement of financial goals.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Education: Bachelor s degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience: 6 plus years maintenance experience. High degree of electrical/PLC proficiency and troubleshooting experience preferred.
  • Computer Skills: Standard computer skills.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; some public speaking skills.
  • Special Skills: Industrial Maintenance in fields such as electrical refrigeration hydraulics or mechanical. Strong emphasis on electrical / PLC troubleshooting / automation / robotics.
  • Supervisory: Responsible for supervising a group of personnel who perform similar or interrelated tasks.
  • Travel: 1-5 domestic trips per year.
