Job summary

Divert Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Manager at our Plymouth, Indiana facility. You will oversee day-to-day and strategic maintenance programs, lead technicians, and ensure safe, reliable plant operations.

You will develop and manage PM programs, mentor staff, and coordinate with contractors while driving continuous improvement across equipment and processes. Competitive compensation and benefits are offered.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Associate’s Degree in mechanical/maintenance or related field required.
  • 5–8 years of maintenance/operations in industrial environments with leadership experience.
  • CMRP certification preferred or equivalent knowledge of maintenance practices.
  • Experience with distributed control systems (DCS/PLC) and large industrial equipment.
  • Strong communication and coaching skills; proficient with CMMS and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain Divert culture and ensure safe, disciplined operations.
  • Lead maintenance planning, scheduling and PM programs; manage training for techs.
  • Drive root-cause analysis for equipment failures and implement long-term solutions.
  • Oversee contractor work and ensure adherence to SOW and safety standards.
  • Manage spare parts, budgeting, and KPI reporting for asset utilization.

What you’ll do:

Under the direction of the Director of Maintenance & Reliability and Plant Manager, the Maintenance Manager at each of our facilities are uniquely positioned to oversee the day-to-day and strategic aspects of Divert’s technical programs.

Divert’s Plymouth facility receives unsold food from clients, analyzes the content, separates the packaging from the organics that can then be digested and processed. Many of Divert’s facilities ultimately process the mixed liquor through an anaerobic digestion tank with the end result is renewable natural gas (RNG) tied into a local NG pipeline.

This position is a safety-sensitive position and requires a clear mind and diligence. The employee has the responsibility for his/her safety as well as the safety of others.

Responsibilities
Culture & Safety:
  • Maintain the Divert culture in the plant by executing processes that support empowerment and structured independence
  • Ensure a safe work environment through culture, training, and reinforcement of demonstrated best practices
  • Ensure established operating discipline is being maintained consistently
  • Manage and execute plant technical training program including:
  • Develop a comprehensive maintenance on-boarding program for Techs. Includes all aspects of safety, effective CMMS usage, proactive maintenance, predictive maintenance, PM completion and troubleshooting
  • Develop, coach and mentor technicians to progress based on technical skill growth
Maintenance & Reliability:
  • Develop procedures and plans to lead major maintenance jobs, e.g. screw conveyor overhauls, screw press screen changes, tank inspections, facility equipment maintenance, etc.
  • Manage maintenance and reliability processes, including:
  • Manage PM program, spare parts inventory management, planning/scheduling, CMMS data entry/analysis, budget development, lubrication program, conditional based maintenance program
  • Lead root cause of equipment failures and drive solutions to eliminate recurrence of failures
  • Research parts and services suppliers. Investigate lead times and costs. Ensure spare parts on hand are appropriate and located for easy identification.
  • Generate and share weekly and monthly asset utilization performance, utilizing Key Performance Indicators (KPI) to drive resource allocation
  • Drive daily maintenance operations (work planning/scheduling/assignment/completion review) and completion aligned with current plant needs.
Contractor Management:
  • Manage contractor work for plant repairs, maintenance and improvements
  • Write PO’s and hold vendors accountable to standards created in the SOW for 3rd-party and contractor work.
What we’re looking for:
  • Bachelor's or Associate’s Degree in mechanical, maintenance, or other related industrial fields from an accredited program.
    • Equivalent experience in maintenance management, planning, and scheduling as well as preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance may be considered.
  • 5 to 8 years of maintenance/operations experience in industrial environments (manufacturing/energy/chemical/wastewater treatment), including leadership and management.
  • CMRP certification preferred or understanding/experience of these practices and procedures
  • Experience maintaining and troubleshooting technical and operational systems (Distributed controls systems, PLC)
  • Hands-on experience and knowledge working on large industrial equipment (i.e. motors, pumps, gearboxes, agitators, large rotating equipment, screw conveyors, chain?and belt conveyors,?screw presses, hammermills, etc.)
  • Experience with?pneumatic?control valves?and actuators?
  • Strong leadership skills, independent thinking, organizational/planning abilities, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Well-versed in the management of a CMMS with respect to equipment maintenance execution.
  • Proficiency in coaching, training, and development of maintenance personnel.
  • Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communication
  • CMMS experience required
  • Excellent computer competence (Outlook, Word, Power Point, Excel, Power Bi, CMMS software)
  • Must be able to handle several priorities at one time.
