Job summary

Seneca Foods Corporation is seeking a Maintenance Manager to oversee the plant's electrical and mechanical systems, equipment maintenance, utilities, and grounds, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations. You will lead a maintenance team, develop schedules, implement preventive maintenance, and manage budgets with emphasis on safety and quality.

The role requires 5–10 years of maintenance leadership, strong mechanical skills, and knowledge of OSHA/EPA standards.

Qualifications

  • Leadership and personnel management across maintenance teams (5–10 years).

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage schedules for maintenance staff and coordinate daily work assignments.
  • Implement and manage a robust preventative maintenance program for all equipment and facilities.
  • Assist with hiring/training maintenance staff and ensure ongoing safety trainings.
  • Ensure compliance with Seneca and OSHA safety standards across the plant.
  • Coordinate budgets with Plant Manager and Plant Superintendent, including capital projects.
  • Identify and solve maintenance or equipment issues to minimize production disruptions.
  • Coordinate work with outside contractors and manage projects within budget and deadlines.
  • Procure parts and supplies to support seasonal production and rebuild needs.
  • Maintain good housekeeping in all maintenance areas and storage spaces.
  • Support SAVES program activities and initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

The Maintenance Manager will oversee all physical aspects of the plant, including the service of electrical and mechanical systems; maintenance of production equipment, physical plant, utilities, and grounds, as well as compliance with applicable company, state, and/or local policies and regulations.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with developing and managing schedules for maintenance employees and coordinate daily work assignments for the maintenance group. Evaluate work to ensure it meets production, quality, and safety requirements.
  • Implement and manage a robust preventative maintenance program for all production machinery, equipment, and plant facilities.
  • Assist with hiring and training new maintenance staff, and ensure existing staff has up‑to‑date training to meet safety standards.
  • Work with the maintenance group to ensure compliance with all Seneca and OSHA safety standards.
  • Coordinate with the Plant Manager and Plant Superintendent to manage departmental budgets, including UPM and capital projects.
  • Work closely with the Plant Manager and Plant Superintendent to identify and problem‑solve maintenance or equipment issues and plan maintenance activities to accommodate production needs where possible.
  • Coordinate work to be done by outside contractors and/or vendors and manage various projects to ensure work is done according to production, quality, and safety specifications, to meet deadlines, and to keep projects within budget.
  • Manage the procurement of parts and supplies to maintain inventory for seasonal production needs and off‑season rebuild needs and meet annual budgets.
  • Ensure the maintenance department maintains good housekeeping of work areas, maintenance shops, and maintenance storage areas.
  • Actively support and participate in the SAVES program.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required by management.
Qualifications
  • Superior leadership and management skills with proven ability to lead and coordinate employees, teams, and departments with different skills and backgrounds, with a minimum of 5–10 years of maintenance experience.
  • Advanced mechanical skills and knowledge with a minimum of 5–10 years of maintenance experience; previous supervisory or management skills preferred.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Thorough understanding of OSHA and EPA regulations as they pertain to plant operations and maintenance.
  • Ability to multi‑task, prioritize tasks, and delegate tasks to a maintenance team based on their skills and abilities.
  • Extensive knowledge of building systems such as plumbing, electrical, boilers, and HVAC.
  • Mechanical skills and understanding to analyze and problem‑solve mechanical issues or mechanical performance at a high level.
  • Ability to proactively identify issues, understand equipment, and actively use a preventative maintenance program to plan work schedules, budgets, and project timelines to meet seasonal production operational needs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Good written and oral communication skills; bilingual speaking (English & Spanish) is a plus.
  • Previous documented training or certifications in advanced mechanical/technical skills beneficial (e.g., boiler operation, welding, electrical, plumbing/pipe fitting).

Salary based on experience, skills and abilities: 90,000–100,000.
