Job summary

Austin Powder is seeking a Maintenance Manager to lead the site’s maintenance and reliability organization, ensuring safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation of all manufacturing assets.

You will oversee maintenance execution, planning, scheduling, reliability engineering, contractor management, and workforce development, while collaborating with Operations and Engineering to improve equipment performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Industrial Maintenance, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years of industrial maintenance experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of maintenance leadership experience.
  • Experience with CMMS/EAM systems, maintenance planning and scheduling, and reliability programs.
  • OSHA 1910.119 PSM experience preferred.
  • Explosives experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop Maintenance Supervisors, E&I Supervisor, Maintenance Planners, Reliability Engineers, Facilities Manager, and Inventory Clerk.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities are executed safely and in compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and process safety standards.
  • Drive maintenance work management processes, including planning, scheduling, backlog management, and work execution.
  • Establish and monitor maintenance and reliability KPIs, developing action plans to improve performance.
  • Lead reliability improvement initiatives, root cause analyses, and preventive/predictive maintenance programs.
  • Manage maintenance budgets, contractor services, and maintenance-related capital projects.
  • Support plant turnarounds, shutdowns, and major maintenance activities.
  • Partner with Operations and Engineering to improve equipment reliability, asset utilization, and overall plant performance.
  • Develop training and workforce development programs to strengthen maintenance capabilities and succession planning.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Industrial Maintenance, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years of industrial maintenance experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of maintenance leadership experience.
  • Experience with CMMS/EAM systems, maintenance planning and scheduling, and reliability programs.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and hold maintenance personnel accountable for safety, quality, reliability, and performance expectations.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and utility systems within an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute maintenance strategies that improve equipment reliability, reduce downtime, and optimize maintenance costs.
  • Working knowledge of preventive, predictive, and reliability-centered maintenance principles.
  • Ability to analyze maintenance and reliability data, identify trends, and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Experience leading root cause failure investigations and driving sustainable solutions to recurring equipment issues.
  • Strong understanding of maintenance planning, scheduling, backlog management, and work execution processes.
  • Knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM), Mechanical Integrity, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to manage maintenance budgets, contractor resources, and capital improvement projects.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively collaborate across Operations, Engineering, Safety, and Supply Chain functions.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills with the ability to balance production requirements, maintenance priorities, and available resources.
  • Proficiency with CMMS/EAM systems and Microsoft Office applications.
Work Environment

This position requires minimal travel. 80% of time will be spent in all areas of the plant, both indoors and outdoors, in all-weather elements.
