Job summary

Avient Corporation is seeking a Plant Maintenance Manager to lead central maintenance, utilities, water treatment, pretreatment of waste waters and engineering stores at our Holden, MA site. You will manage safety programs, reliability, budgets, and annual shutdowns, while enabling environmental responsibility and cost-effective operations.

Job description

Position plans, directs and coordinates the activities of employees engaged in chemical production plant support in the functions of central maintenance, utilities supply (steam, electricity, water, air, nitrogen and others), treatment of incoming water, pretreatment of waste waters, and engineering stores.

Responsibilities
  • Develops programs, procedures and practices to encourage employees to work safety in an environmentally responsible manner to achieve quality results at acceptable cost levels.
  • Participates in safety, health, and environmental continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Prepares budgets and monitors expenses.
  • Plans, coordinates and oversees annual plant and boiler shutdown activities.
  • Provides technical support for maintenance functions for central maintenance.
  • Manages the Avient Reliability Program.
  • Provides advisory support to the plant-engineering group.
  • Maintains plant engineering standards and compliance.
  • Drives the cultural changes necessary for the organization.
  • Resolves personnel conflicts and ensures customer satisfaction.
  • Develops systems and uses applicable tools to improve understanding of maintenance costs and utility measures relative to overall goals of reliability.
  • Oversees the daily operation of the utilities systems for the site.
  • Inspects and troubleshoots equipment as needed, including steam boiler internals.
  • Manages engineering stores functions to properly support plant needs, including maintenance material and contracting needs, process material needs, raw material purchasing, and physical inventory.
  • Other projects/duties as assigned.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to walk. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to lift and/or moveup to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities may require close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Requires the use of safety equipment as dictated by the work area such as safety glasses and shoes, dust mask, hard hat, respirator, face shield, hearing protection, chemical suit, gloves, aprons, etc. Work is inside and the typical noise level is loud. Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The employee is frequently exposed to vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or
caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock.

Qualifications

High school diploma required, bachelor's degree preferred.

At least 5 years of relevant experience in a maintenance role.

At least 3 years in a leadership role.

Final compensation within this range may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as geographic location of the position.
