Job summary

Pratt Industries seeks a Maintenance Manager to lead maintenance for production equipment and the facility in Albany, GA. The role focuses on minimizing downtime, overseeing vendor work, and driving preventive maintenance programs to keep operations efficient.

The candidate should bring extensive maintenance experience in manufacturing, strong electrical and hydraulic/pneumatic knowledge, and leadership abilities to manage teams and safety programs.

Qualifications

• Must read mechanical diagrams and electrical schematics.
• Strong knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Four years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing plant.
• Electrical experience required.
• Preferred: five years in the corrugated box industry with electronics, mechanical, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electricity.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate maintenance and repair of production equipment with minimal downtime.
• Check, set up, and operate production tools prior to production use; maintain building and facilities.
• Report to General Manager & Plant Manager any information that may impede operation.
• Monitor warranties and service guarantees; notify about impending expiration dates.
• Conduct monthly inventory of maintenance parts and supplies.
• Take utility meter readings and record usage.
• Locate OEM manufacturers and distributors to obtain competitive costs.
• Order parts and supplies; oversee bar code scanning of inventory.
• Initiate and maintain a cost-effective preventive maintenance program.
• Oversee contract work and installations by outside vendors.
• Encourage ongoing education via seminars and courses.
• Assist in selection, evaluation, and installation of capital/expense projects.
• Implement and support company policies including safety and housekeeping.
• Additional duties as assigned.

Job Description

Overview:

• Coordinate the maintenance and repair of a wide variety of production or processing machines and equipment with minimal downtime.
• Involves checking, setting up, and operating various types of production tools and equipment prior to approving for production use. In addition, to maintaining building and facility.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Report to General Manager & Plant Manager any information that may impede the operation of the plant as soon as it becomes known.
• Monitor warranties and service guarantees. Notify personnel of impending expiration dates.
• Conduct selective inventory monthly and verify with computerized inventory of maintenance parts and supplies.
• Take utility meter readings and record usage in computer.
• Locate O.E.M. manufacturers and after-market distributors in order to obtain competitive costs on parts or improved service.
• Order parts and supplies. Oversee bar code scanning of parts inventory.
• Initiate and/or maintain a cost-effective preventive maintenance program.
• Oversee and plan contract work and installations done by outside vendors.
• Improve career skills by enrolling yourself in seminars, technical courses, and related college courses.
• Assist in selection, evaluation, and installation of capital and expense projects.
• Implement, maintain, and support all company policies and procedures, including safety program, and good housekeeping.
• Additional duties may be assigned by management.

Qualifications:

• Must be able to read mechanical diagrams and electrical schematics.
• Must have a good knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

Required Skills:

• Computer/Data entry skills.
• Demonstrated personnel managerial skills.
• Four years maintenance experience in a manufacturing plant.
• Electrical experience.
• Five years experience in the corrugated box industry with heavy experience in electronics, mechanical, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electricity is preferred.

Educational Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED.
• College and/or related technical courses preferred.

Language Skills:

• Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Leadership Attributes:

• Superior time management skills including the ability to manage multiple issues concurrently.
• Excellent crisis manager who demonstrates that he/she has a high emotional control.
• Excellent employee relations skills including being an active listener.
• Demonstrated confidence including providing a consistent leadership style with an acceptable level of professional assertiveness.
• Professional appearance to support his/her role as a managerial representative of the company.

Certifications:

• May be required to maintain a current Lift Truck Operator License and/or other appropriate certification to work in certain areas or on certain equipment.

Physical Demands:

• The employee is regularly required to walk and talk and hear.
• The employee is frequently required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
• The employee is occasionally required to sit.
• Vision requirements include: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

• Work space is not climate controlled and can reach both hot and cold extremes (30 degrees – 110 degrees Fahrenheit).
