Job summary

Saputo Cheese USA Inc. is seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to lead the plant's maintenance and technical support across production systems, utilities, and facilities. 

You will drive asset reliability, oversee maintenance activities, and coordinate with engineering and operations to sustain high performance while adhering to GMP, 5S, and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, industrial mechanical or related discipline.
• GMP, Food Safety Practices and 5S systems familiarity.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; SAP is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with plant management to improve safety, quality, reliability and OEE using Continuous Improvement techniques and MOS.
• Manages maintenance and technical needs for the facility.
• Maintains production systems, utilities, buildings and grounds using mechanical and electrical expertise.
• Uses SAP/ERP to optimize asset utilization through scheduled preventive maintenance.
• Oversees parts inventory to ensure budget adherence and proper stocking levels.
• Implements corrective actions from maintenance performance indicators to improve OEE.
• Supports capital projects and coordinates with contractors with engineering team.

How You Will Make Contributions That Matter...

• Collaborates with plant management team to utilize equipment to improve employee safety, production quality, equipment reliability, and overall equipment effectiveness utilizing Continuous Improvement techniques and a Management Operating Structure (MOS).
• Manages the maintenance and technical needs for the facility.
• Utilizes mechanical and electrical expertise to maintain production systems, utilities, buildings and grounds.
• Utilizes a computerized maintenance management system to optimize asset utilization through scheduled preventative maintenance. SAP is the current ERP platform.
• Effectively supervises the maintenance inventory clerk as it relates to purchasing of parts and part inventory to ensure budgets are adhered to and the plant is adequately stocked with the appropriate levels of parts, supplies and maintenance consumables.
• Implements corrective actions identified by key maintenance performance indicators as a means to increase overall equipment effectiveness.
• Support capital projects, coordination with contractors, sub-contractors and suppliers in coordination with engineering team.
• Remains current with the latest and emerging industry regulations and codes relative to mechanical and electrical systems design and operation.
• Shares and implements “best practices” within the Maintenance Department and partners with other departments to ensure plant operations are performing at acceptable performance standards.
• Engages in the typical responsibilities of a manager requiring effective planning, evaluating, organizing, integrating and delegating.
• Complies with the Saputo Code of Ethics and actively applies the Saputo Values.
• Provides effective management of employees directly or indirectly through supervisors to ensure effective selection, retention, development, disciplinary action and performance management.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, industrial mechanical or related discipline and a minimum of 5 years of progressive management experience.
• Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Food Safety Practices and 5S systems.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other computer-based applications. SAP, a plus.
• Union experience preferred where collective bargaining exists.
• Experience leading and following safety/security policies and procedures.
• Ability to follow all sanitation and quality policies and procedures, and report and follow through on any deficiencies.
• Excellent verbal/written communication skills.
• Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs; ability to lead others through change.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
• Skill in organization and prioritization, and attention to detail.
• Strong team player and leader with the ability to work across multiple functions and disciplines.
• Ability to select, coach, develop, engage, motivate and retain a team of employees.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands and fingers, handle, feel, type; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl; visual acuity; talk or hear and taste or smell in a wet, cold and/or humid environment. The employee must have the ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted.

Work Environment.

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job in a food manufacturing environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts; hazardous or caustic chemicals and exposure to electrical equipment/systems. The noise level in the work environment is moderate and hearing protection is required in most areas of the facility. The use of a bump cap and eye protection is required.

Salary Range

$107,350 - $134,185
