Job summary

Vanguard Renewables is seeking a Maintenance Lead to oversee day-to-day maintenance at our RNG facility in Virginia. You will develop preventative maintenance plans, supervise contractors, and ensure equipment readiness and safety across operations.

The role requires industrial maintenance experience, ability to read drawings, and proficiency with SCADA and CMMS systems. Expect a collaborative, hands-on position with focus on uptime and safe operations.

Qualifications

• License and ability to operate a vehicle required.
• Regularly lift up to 50 lbs and perform manual tasks.
• Maintenance and operating experience in industrial or gas processing environment.
• Ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings.
• Experience with SCADA systems and CMMS software.

Responsibilities

• Develops maintenance plans for equipment based on OEM guidelines.
• Completes routine preventative maintenance tasks.
• Maintains spare parts inventory for equipment maintenance.
• Orders specialty parts for planned maintenance from equipment vendors.
• Monitors plant equipment and gas production to ensure safety and compliance.
• Troubleshoots equipment issues and coordinates with stakeholders to maximize uptime.
• Participates in housekeeping programs and safety activities.
• Tracks repairs and maintenance using work management software.
• Drafts SOPs and energy isolation procedures in line with state laws.
• Ensures an accident-free workplace.
• Demonstrates consistent and on-time attendance.

Description

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Maintenance Lead will have the overall responsibility for executing day-to-day maintenance at our RNG facility, as well as developing preventative maintenance plans to ensure maximum uptime of equipment.

Responsibilities

• Develops maintenance plans for equipment based on OEM guidelines and participates in oversight of outside maintenance contractors to ensure that they are working in a safe manner.
• Completes routine preventative maintenance tasks.
• Develops an inventory of spare parts and consumables required for equipment maintenance including but not limited to lubricating oils, fasteners, drive belts and other non-critical spares to maintain equipment readiness.
• Orders specialty parts for planned maintenance from equipment vendors as needed to align with hourly based overhauls.
• Monitor plant equipment and gas production of anaerobic digesters on a daily basis to ensure safety and compliance with operational parameters. Ensure that any issues are promptly reported and determine best solutions for resolving the issues.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues, execute maintenance activities as required, and work with relevant stakeholders both internal and external to ensure maximum uptime and reliability of equipment.
• Participate in plant housekeeping programs and material handling safety activities such as developing programs, policies and standard operating procedures.
• Track repairs and scheduled maintenance though work management software.
• Draft Standard Operating Procedures and Energy Isolation Procedures in coordination with state laws relevant to the repetitive maintenance tasks to streamline efficiency.

Requirements

Skills and Qualifications

• Valid driver's license and ability to operate a motor vehicle is required.
• Will be required to regularly lift, move and/or push objects weighing up to 50lbs
• Maintenance and operating experience in an industrial or gas processing environment.
• Ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical drawings.
• Experience with SCADA systems and CMMS software.

Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to maintain plant equipment such as compressors, pumps, mixers, and process equipment.
• Electrical safety training and OSHA 30 certification
• A relevant background in safety procedures/practices.
• Able to quickly respond to rapidly changing conditions.
• Ability to read, write and understand English is required.
• Ability to analyze and interpret data and to make sound recommendations on plant conditions.
• Fundamental proficiency in Windows-based applications (Outlook, Word, and Excel) on a PC or tablet required.

Working Conditions

• Work locations are industrial and agricultural, primarily outdoors.
• Limited exposure to hazardous materials and/or toxic fumes will require the use of approved personal protective equipment. Regular exposure to heat, noise, flammable materials, rotating equipment, and other conditions normally encountered in an industrial environment should be expected.
