Job summary

Trident Seafoods is seeking a Maintenance Lead in a food processing facility to direct maintenance activities, lead technicians, and coordinate with engineering and quality teams. You will ensure equipment reliability and safety, manage downtime, and support continuous improvement.

You will work with CMMS, PLCs, and VFDs, overseeing daily shift activities and maintaining high standards of manufacturing excellence.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 3 years of Maintenance Mechanic experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • One year certificate from a college or technical school or equivalent experience.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to problem solve and troubleshoot diverse breakdowns.
  • Knowledge of CMMS and Microsoft applications.
  • Experience with PLC troubleshooting and VFD programming (preferred).
  • Previous leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Previous experience in a food processing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manages maintenance work requests from production floor by determining priority and assigning work orders to technicians.
  • Verifies completion of assigned work orders by technicians.
  • Enforces departmental use of Lock Out Tag Out and safety practices.
  • Keeps steam team compliant with safety and good manufacturing practices.
  • Communicates equipment breakdowns and repair times to Production and QA.
  • Works with management, vendors, engineering and quality control to resolve issues.
  • Audits work to ensure standards are met and discusses downtime and root causes.
  • Conducts daily shift meetings to update on status and passes down info.
  • Maintains shop cleanliness and daily office/outdoor areas.
  • Dismantles equipment to access defective parts and performs adjustments.
  • Repairs electrical equipment and coordinates cross-functional activities.

Responsibilities

Summary:The Maintenance Lead directs and coordinates activities of vendors and Maintenance Mechanics engaged in repair, maintenance, installation of machines, tools, and equipment. In addition, the Maintenance Lead also assists with the maintenance of the buildings, grounds and utility systems of the plant. The Maintenance Lead will report up to the Shift Maintenance Supervisor and assist in the strategic needs of the department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manages maintenance work requests fromproductionfloor bydeterminingpriority and assigning work orders to technicians.
  • Verifies completion of assigned work orders by technicians
  • Enforces departmental use of Lock Out Tag Out as defined by the company policy.
  • Ensuresteam memberscomply withall safety and good manufacturing practices.
  • Communicates to Production and Quality Assurancedepartmentsequipment breakdowns and estimated times for repair completion.
  • Works with management, vendor,engineeringand quality control personnel to resolve maintenance issues and recommend measures to improve operations and conditions of machines and equipment.
  • Audits work of team members to ensure that standards arebeing met.
  • Conducts daily meetings at the end of each shift to update incoming maintenance personnel on status of breakdowns, repairs and troubleshooting completed duringpreviousshift.
  • Maintains shop cleanliness, including the office and outside staging area.
  • Communicates daily shift pass down report via designated email distribution.
  • Dismantle equipment to gain access to and remove defective parts.
  • Examinesformand texture of parts regularly to remove defective parts.
  • Lubricates and cleans parts, equipment, and machinery.
  • Tests and adjusts equipment to meet performance specifications.
  • Sets up andoperateslathe, drill press, grinder, saws, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.
  • Communicates to Supervisor parts needs.
  • Repairselectrical equipment.
  • Represents the Maintenance department as needed for cross functional meetings.
  • Ensures shift is meeting department KPIs and CMMS compliance.
  • Followsup on Downtime items and aids in root cause analysis.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Acquiresknowledge of Trident’s Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activitiesin accordance withtraining and procedures/work instructions.
  • Notifiesdesignated personnel of any environmental or safety incidents or risks not previously documented,in accordance withEnvironmental Awareness and/or safety trainings.
  • All other duties as assigned.
  • Verify PMs are Completed accurately.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3 years of Maintenance Mechanic experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • One year certificate from a college or technical school or equivalent experience.

Preferred Education & Experiences:

  • Ability to operate a variety of hand tools including welding machines, cutting torches, pipe/tube cutters, power drills/saws, calipers.
  • Prior work with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Experience with interpreting a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
  • Previous experience in a food processing environment.
  • Previous leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • PLC troubleshooting experience.
  • VFD programing experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):

  • Strong communication skills and ability to problem solve and troubleshoot diverse breakdowns.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in various software programs such as Microsoft applications and experience with a CMMS program.
  • Ability to operate a variety of hand tools to include welding machines, cutting torches and power tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
