Job summary

Town of Palm Beach is seeking a versatile Recreation Facilities Maintenance worker to perform janitorial, maintenance, setup/tear down, and repair tasks at the Recreation Center and Tennis Centers. The role involves considerable public interaction and reports to the Recreation Facilities Maintenance Supervisor.

You should be capable of using power tools, following safety rules, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Weekend and holiday availability is required, and prior maintenance experience is

Qualifications

• Education equivalent to high school diploma or GED or vocational training.
• Previous maintenance experience preferred.
• Requires availability on weekends and holidays on a variable schedule.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic maintenance and routine repairs, janitorial, facility, landscaping and grounds-keeping duties.
• Assist with inventory of building supplies, equipment and materials.
• Assist with interior and exterior facility safety inspections and perform safety maintenance duties.
• Operate a variety of powered and non-powered tools and equipment.
• Maintain equipment in good working order and ensure proper storage.
• Adhere to safety regulations and work policies established by the Town and supervisor.

Job description

Employee will be responsible for janitorial, maintenance, set-up/tear down, and repair tasks at the Recreation Center and/or Tennis Centers. This position also requires considerable personal contact and visibility with employees and the public. Employee reports directly to the Recreation Facilities Maintenance Supervisor.

Anticipated Work Schedule: Wednesday - Sunday or Saturday - Wednesday

• Ability to perform basic maintenance and routine repairs, janitorial, facility, landscaping, and grounds-keeping duties and tasks.
• Assisting the inventory of building supplies, equipment and materials.
• Assist with interior and exterior facility safety inspections for Seaview Park facilities and Phipps Ocean Park Tennis Center and perform facility safety maintenance duties and recommend repairs on equipment to supervisor(s).
• Operate a variety of powered and non-powered tools and equipment.
• Maintain equipment in good working order; ensure proper storage of equipment.
• General knowledge of maintenance and grounds work.
• Knowledge and ability to operate a variety of maintenance equipment.
• Willingness to perform a wide variety of maintenance tasks including manual labor and lift 50 pounds.
• Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the public.
• Ability to work in a variety of environments and situations.
• Ability to understand, interpret and effectively carry out written and oral instructions.

• Education, training, and experience equivalent to graduation from high school/GED or vocational school.
• Previous experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and ability preferred.
• Requires the availability to work weekends and holidays, on a variable work schedule.

• Ability to learn and retain skills, when provided with a reasonable level of instruction, for the purpose of successful completion of assigned job duties or tasks.
• Basic knowledge of power tools and or construction equipment. Ability to follow verbal and/or written instructions.
• Ability to learn and comply with pertinent safety regulations, standards, and guidelines.
• Ability to adhere to the work policies and procedures established by the Town and their Recreation Facilities Maintenance Supervisor.
