Job summary

New-Indy Containerboard LLC is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician for our Oxnard, CA facility. You will perform predictive and preventive maintenance on paper-mill equipment, inspect parts, and repair components to ensure safe, reliable operation.

The role requires English fluency, strong mechanical aptitude, PPE discipline, and willingness to work 12-hour shifts including nights and weekends as needed. This position emphasizes safety and teamwork in a demanding industrial environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Five years industrial mechanical experience with four years apprenticeship or equivalent.
• Proven safety record and working knowledge of industrial safety procedures with a proven record for safe work practices.
• Must be able to follow written and oral instruction in English.
• Effective communication skills.
• Must be able to wear all required personal safety equipment including eye protection, hearing protection and fall protection in elevated positions.
• Ability to be part of a multi-functional/multi-skill maintenance organization with a willingness to flow to work as required by changing mill conditions and priorities.
• Ability to perform physical requirements and acclimate to work environment.
• May require to work day shift and/or tour shift (12 hours – 2-day shifts and 2-night shifts).
• Applicants must pass a mechanical aptitude test.

Responsibilities

• Performs predictive and preventive maintenance within the Paper Mill facility.
• Observes mechanical devices in operation to locate trouble.
• Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
• Inspects parts to detect imperfections and changes in dimensional requirements.
• Repairs or replaces defective parts.
• Installs special functional and structural parts in devices.
• Lubricates and cleans parts.
• Starts devices to test performance.
• Sets up and operates tools such as welding instruments, cutting torches, drill presses, grinders and similar equipment.
• Performs repairs or fabrication on equipment such as forklifts, lifts, machine guards, catwalks and related components.
• Rebuilds items like refiners and press rolls.
• Reads gauges and devices including calipers and micrometers.
• Replaces tubing, piping, hoses and valves.
• Initiates purchase orders for parts and machines.
• Cleans the work area and maintains equipment.
• Other duties may be assigned.

Work Environment
