Job summary

JBS Foods in Omaha is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to service and troubleshoot our production line equipment. You will inspect, test, and repair machinery to keep downtime to a minimum and ensure food safety standards are met.

Responsibilities include dismantling machines, replacing worn parts, operating hoists, performing preventive maintenance, and repairing hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, and conveyors.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• 2–3 years of industrial mechanic experience in a food industry environment preferred.
• All relevant experience will be considered.

• Perform routine maintenance, such as inspecting drives, motors, or belts, checking fluid levels, replacing filters, or performing other preventive maintenance.
• Inspect mechanical components to identify problems.
• Troubleshoot electrical controls and components and repair as needed.

Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic

Reporting to: Maintenance Supervisor

Essential Job Functions:

• Inspect and test machinery to ensure proper functioning

• Trouble shoot electrical controls and components and repair as needed

Experience Required:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent, preferred but not required
• 2-3 years of industrial mechanic experience in a food industry environment preferred but not required
• All relevant experience will be considered

Skills/Abilities Required:

• Basic computer skills
• Must be able to climb ladders, lift heavy objects, work with a variety of hand and power tools and shop machines
• Must be able to work in extreme temperatures
• Knowledge of manufacturing/packaging equipment including hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, valves, cylinders, labeling equipment and conveyors
• Must demonstrate a strong work ethic, organizational skills, and the ability to learn quickly
• Must be able to work flexible hours, overtime and some weekends
